GAATES Course Registration 

General instructions: You have two options to enroll in the Illustrated Technical Guide to the 

Accessibility Standard for the Design of Public Spaces course. 

Option1: Enroll online (preferred). This option allows you to register and pay 

online using PayPal, after which you will be able to start the course immediately. 

To enroll online, use the instructions starting on Page 2.  

Option2: Enroll by mail. Complete the form below and mail it with a cheque to 

GAATES. Once processed, login and password information will be emailed to you. 

This may take up to 10 business days after payment is processed.

Online Registration You must have an account (be registered) on the GAATES course server before 

you can register for the Illustrated Technical Guide to the Accessibility Standard 

for the Design of Public Spaces course. 

For technical reasons, you can only make your 

registration payment by Visa or MasterCard,  

AND 

You must have, or create a PayPal account 

(http://www.paypal.com) in order to pay the course 

registration fee.  

Once you have made a successful payment, you are 

automatically enrolled in the course and can begin 

using it immediately. 

Getting Started 

Step 1 ‐ Start 

Using your browser, go to 

http://www.gaates.org/ATutor/ 

 

If you are already registered 

with the GAATES Atutor Course 

Server go to Step 2B ‐ Returning 

User. 

If you have not registered with 

the GAATES Atutor Course 

Server go to Step 2A ‐ New User.

find and select the course

Note: at this point, 

Atutor will send an e‐

mail message to the 

course's instructor indicating that someone is attempting to register for the 

course. This message contains no information about you whatsoever. It is 

merely to alert the instructor of a new student request. 

 

Step 4 – Select to 

Pay Course Fee On the My Courses page, click

Step 6 – Pay using 

PayPal The Payments page will now 

display information about your 

purchase and the technical 

requirements your browser must 

meet in order to proceed. 

If you are ready to register and 

make the course‐payment, click 

– or tab to and select – the "Pay 

by PayPal" button; 

You will now link to the PayPal website.  The page shows a summary of your order 

and the two options to log in to PayPal. You must have a PayPal account in order 

to proceed. PayPal accounts are free, and very secure.

You can either select the course name link or the login link to enter the course.

Step 7 ‐ Payment Unsuccessful If your payment was unsuccessful, the Atutor Payments page will indicate this 

with a message.  If you receive such a message, contact the GAATES Atutor 

administrator. You will have to provide the administrator with the login name and 

email address you were using. Unfortunately, in order to resolve the problem the 

administrator may need to delete your Atutor account, in which case you will 

need to start the entire process over again. We apologize for any inconvenience 

this may cause you. 

After an unsuccessful payment attempt, the Course information table on the 

Payments page will contain:
