!Dean Martin first performed in Las Vegas

in 1949 at the Flamingo Hotel with Jerry Lewis.

Martin and Lewis were at the height of their

nightclub career. Together they were paid

$15,000 a week.

Dean Martin was not one to play the

sycophant and although close to

Sinatra, he was never dependent upon him. Dino

never liked being "one of the guys"

but he liked performing with Sinatra.

The King of Cool

Mr. CoolDean martin Typography only design for

UNLV Libraries Digital Collections. This

feature plays with type to add contrast

and dynamics to the piece.

Solar Decathlon

CompetitionThe Solar Decathlon project is a

competition for higher education

institutions like UNLV to compete against

one another by building a self sustaining

home through re-usable energy sources.

Part of the competition was also to

develop marketing and visual documents

to help sell the house as well as promote

the project for sponsors

Trick or TreatOne light set up with Westcott 400watt

strobe lights. Take on Halloween night.

This composition is has a nice dark feel

appropriate for the context of the image.

13Flying Lisa

This picture was taken with a one light

set up with 500watt Elinchrom strobe

lights that were aimed through a big

background soft box. The light is evenly

distributed around the subject’s back

leaving only a her silhouette.

ShineCeramics posed a little challenge to

photograph since they have a shiny

characteristic to them. This means that

sometimes the photographer can be reflected

on the actual ceramic dependig on what your

angle is and lighting set up.

ModelOne light set up with 500watt Elinchrom

strobe lights. The nice thing about having

strobe lights equipped with you is that

you are able to control how the light is

going to work in your photographs. This

was taken during the day but it feels like a

night time shot.

ChallengeI tend to like great and noticable contrast between light shades and the

darker shades of shadow. The nice thing about studio photography is

the ability to alter the light so that I can have nice contrast. Music17Beats

Product photography is pretty fun. You

can set up your subject however way you

want and you never have to deal with

complacent clients/people.

18 Ray Ban

Commercial Developing your skills in commercial

photograhy can generate yourself a lot of

income. Something like this photo is a

very easy set up that anyone can do. Just

watch out not to get glare into the lens of

the sunglasses and to make sure that you

aren’t in the reflection of the lens as well.

MotionThis image was taken with two light

set up with a background soft box. The

nice thing about having two lights is

that you can take images like this where

the subject looks suspended in air. This

sort of thing is great for commercial and

recreational work.
