Evaluati on Question 3 What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
Transcript
  • 1. Survey Monkey The first piece of research that I conducted at the start of my music videos process was the survey monkey that I sent out to 100 people in our target audience. The types of questions with their most common answers that I asked that I would say mostly influenced and were most important in our process consisted of;

2. What features in a musicvideo do you find mostinteresting and enjoyable? A narrative e.g. , a story line played throughout the song 3. What features make amusic video moreappealing? Creativity, colorful imagery and things reflecting the lyrics 4. How much do you relatewhat you are watching tothe lyrics of the song? People agreed with the statement that they do relate the lyrics to the video 5. What do you most like tosee in a music video? Girls, a story line, something to connect to and a lot of people 6. Do you prefer retro,modern or contemporarymusic videos? 66% of people said that they preferred modern, followed by retro and then contemporary 7. Impacting Questions These questions I would say had the most impact, because these are the questions that would show what our target audience do and do not like to see. From here, I was able to rule out some of our initial ideas but also to add to them to make sure that we catered to the likes of our audience. 8. Success! When looking back at the first questionnaire and the responses to the questions, I would say that the created brand and media product has been really effective in appealing to my target audiences. 9. Aspects of the Video There are a couple of narratives that take place through out the video, telling the story of a few different characters. All of the shots that we filmed were either filmed in a bright location, or brightened up along side the use of bright colours, all helping to meet the audiences preference of colorful imagery and bright colours. 10. CreativityThe video has a high level of creativity that hasgone into it, through the use of the signs and thedifferent card board cut outs, that were simpleideas that look really good in the video and alsorepresent a lot of symbolism. 11. Lyric Representation Throughout the video, all of the shots are telling the story of what is being said in the lyrics of the song, from the use of the cigarette smoking and wine drinking silhouettes, to the use of stop- motion of the elephants, all of which help to put together a final piece that is a representation and mediation of the themes and story behind the song. 12. Questionnaire Details The dominating gender in the music video that I made was female, although the main character was male, this is because when I asked 50 females and 50 males in our survey what they like to see, one of the recurring answers to the questions was girls, and this went really well with the ideas that we had for our music video. 13. Modern Video The whole look of our video as well as the concepts with in it, like the stop motion and the use of the projector and white board, all added to the idea of a modern video, as this is what over half of the people that filled out our survey said they preferred. 14. Retro VS Contemporary The use of the older male character and also the use of the cardboard cut outs, helped us to work with the idea of integrating some elements of a retro style video, and as so few people said that they preferred the style of contemporary, we avoided it. 15. What didnt we include? When looking at the initial questionnaires, there are also some things that we did not include in our video, even though our target audience said that those were things that they would like to see and this is what I would alter if I was going to make another video. 16. Dancing One example of what this included is dancing. When we asked our audience about what there favorite music video was and why, quite a few peoples reasoning behind why they liked what they liked was because of the dancing in the video, for example Beyoncs video; Single Ladies and also Britney Spears; Im a Slave. 17. Single Ladies: 18. Im a Slave 4 U 19. Dancing Although the reason that we did not include dancing was because we did not think it went along with the idea that we had, we still could have and should have integrated it in some areas if this is what our audience feedback told us. 20. Peoples Reactions When looking at peoples responses to the music video, we aimed to put together a video of people in the target audiences and either in a few sentences or words, we asked people what they liked about the video. 21. What was liked? What people liked are the things that people said that there should be included from the initial questionnaire, for example the colours, stop- motion, the story line, the use of lots of characters and the footage matching the song. 22. Digi-Pack and Web-Page I also conducted research prior to the making of my Digi-Pack and Web-Page, and in order to do this, I had a few volunteers in the target sit around me whilst I went through numerous initial stages of the making of my platforms. 23. Selection Process They sat through and chose the selection of photos for both the two platforms and also assisted with the colour, sizes and styles of fonts. What this meant was that I was able to get fast responses, and instead of having to conduct before and after research, there was research and ideas coming in the whole time of what my audience wanted to see, and what they thought looked best. 24. Opinions This worked really well for me as I had a fair mix of both boys and girls opinions, and it also meant that there was no bias from me of what I prefer, the sole focus was on the audience and creating a brand and media product that was appealing to them. 25. Revising My Work When thinking about revising the work that I have done, the processes that I went through for the three platforms would not all change but elements on each would change. 26. For the Music Video For the music video, when I filmed on two cameras it meant that for each shot I had two angles to choose from and I also had numerous different clips to choose from. As at this stage my group and I chose which shots to use and which to not, this meant that this was our own personal opinions. 27. For the Music Video What I would do next time was to have a few volunteers sitting with us through the selection process to tell us from their point of view; the point of view of our target audience, what they would like to see, as this method worked really well for the creating of the Web-page and Digi- Pack v 28. For the Digi-Pack andWeb-PageFor the Web-page and Digi-pack, the improvements that I would make if I was to revise these pieces would be to have taken more photos on set, but with characters looking at the camera instead of filming on set and also having to use screen shots. 29. For the Digi-Pack andWeb-PageThis would of given us a larger choice of photos to use, but also more photos to use on the Web- page to keep it looking vibrant and aesthetically pleasing. Those are the major changes that I would improve on. 30. For the Digi-Pack andWeb-Page There are also small things that the audience may not notice but as the creator of the pieces I notice, is that the lip-synching is not always in time, the cuts are some times not very smooth, and that some of the shots are much clearer then others. These are small features that are not hard to change, but as a group, we were unable to make these changes in the given time frame that we had. 31.
