Adrian Bott and I have combined our years of experience in the industry to build a winning team and our dedication and commitment is reflected in our consistently high strike rate, at the elite level, both in NSW and VIC.

Every year, we select and purchase yearlings at the major sales on behalf of existing owners and those newly-interested. We pride ourselves on finding value for owners when selecting a horse and we have a proven record of producing champions from those

purchases, changing the lives of their owners.

Racing your own horse can be more affordable than you may think, however, for those that are looking to spread their risk

through shares in multiple horses we facilitate the opportunity to race horses in partnerships with other owners. We will manage the entire process for you, from start to finish, at no additional cost.

PRE-SALE INSPECTIONS & SALESA tremendous amount of time and resources are spent in order to identify and select the superior racehorse. Gai and Adrian undergo pre-sale inspections whether it be in Sydney, Melbourne or Queensland to ensure each and every yearling has been inspected and re-inspected before they go through the sales ring. Every year, Gai and Adrian select and purchase yearlings at all the major sales in Australia in order to cater to the various levels of ownership.

The horses identified are of a broad range from horses targeting the Golden Slipper to horses targeting The Oaks and Derbys. Our team of professionals are here to help match the right type of horse, with your personal preference in order to help fulfil your ownership dream.

Our team also venture to Europe to select and purchase proven horses (horses that have already raced) to target at the major Cups and staying races here in Australia. Past European imports include Gai’s Melbourne Cup winner, Fiorente, Group 1 Sydney Cup winner, The Offer, Group 1 The Metropolitan winner, Glencadam Gold, and Group 1 The Metropolitan runner-up, Julienas.

YEARLING CONFORMATIONOur primary aim is to focus on purchasing horses that are able to compete and win at the elite level, whilst sustaining longevity in their career. The model of Australian racing is one of the best in the world and it is built around the excitement of the large amount of prizemoney on offer, which would rival any racing jurisdiction in the world.

This makes ownership and racing sustainable and therefore, it is vitally important that horses can continue to compete at this level throughout their career which is achieved by selecting a sound horse with good conformation.

Qualities most desired in a young horse:• A relaxed and willing temperament• Athleticism with a loose, fluid walk• Good quality bone• Good length of rein• Strength through shoulder and hindquarter• Depth of girth• Intelligent head and kind eye

MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS

We pride ourselves on providing a high level of communication to our clients. As an owner, you will receive at least one report on your horse per week when it is in full training. We will also keep you updated on its

progress when spelling.

We use a range of media platforms including regular video footage and photos of your horses in work in order to provide the best ownership experience possible and bring you closer to the action. In summary,

you will receive;

• Nomination/s, weights & acceptances via email• Pre-race report, including video footage, on the progress of your

horse leading into race• Pre-race phone call for our latest thoughts and insights into the race• Post-race report, including a replay of race, where we dissect and

analyse the performance of your horse

REGISTRATIONS/NAMING/INSURANCE

Once you have paid for your share, you will receive a registration form which will ask you to provide your details, including share percentage and bank details for prizemoney distribution. You can also provide any

name suggestions you may have for your horse at this point.

Once your horse is ready to be registered with Racing Australia we will circulate all available names to the ownership group and conduct a vote. The most popular name (weighted on the share percentage of

each individual owner) is the winner.

Insurance is included in the share price (although it is optional) and it is valid until 1st December of the year the yearling was purchased. You only pay for insurance on your individual share and once it has expired, you will be notified by Logans Insurance directly. The choice of

re insuring your share is then entirely up to you.

SUNDAY STABLES EXPERIENCE/RACE DAY EXPERIENCE/

PRIVILEGES

Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing host Sunday Stables every Sunday for their owners from 11am until 1pm at 16 Bowral Street, Kensington 2033. This gives owners an opportunity to come and see their horse/s that are in training and to mix with other like-minded owners. Horses are paraded and viewed until 12pm at which point we assemble in our memorabilia room, the TJ Smith Room, over a glass of champagne or beer to celebrate recent winners and network with other owners. All owners are invited to be part of the Sunday Stables experience, whether your horse is in full training or spelling.

When your horse is racing, our office are more than happy to assist you with ticketing and hospitality options on the day. There will always be a stable representative at the races on the day to look after you and to answer any questions you may have before and/or

after the race.

Page 9: GAI WATERHOUSE

NOMINATIONS & ACCEPTANCES

The nominations and acceptances for your horse is managed by the stable. We meticulously plan and prepare the racing program for each individual horse, following rules and formulas that we have successfully created with years of experience. We have the proven plans and paths

required to be successful in the biggest races.

Our team lodge nominations for your horse to race or trial on your behalf and within the deadlines. Group 1 nominations sometimes close months

prior to race day but it is usually within the week.

Sometimes we will nominate horses for multiple races, enabling us to analyse the fields and place your horse in the most winnable contest. Excluding some of the major Group 1s, the weight that the horses will carry is publicised within 24 hours of nominating and acceptances are lodged by us two to three days later. This is when jockeys must be confirmed and the barriers that the horses will jump from are publicised. All of this is taken care of by us and you will be notified of all nominations

and acceptances via email.

16

DISSOLVING THE PARTNERSHIP

Gai and Adrian will advise the ownership group and manage the horse throughout its career, and that includes making the decision to dissolve the partnership at the appropriate time, acting in the best interests of all parties involved. The best option of selling your horse at the end of its career is privately (through the use of bloodstock agents) or at

public auction, whether it be through a ring or in an online sale.

If you have raced a top colt or a good quality mare, they will be sought after by many breeders and we have a proven record to achieving the best possible financial outcomes for our owners in this situation. Well performed colts will be highly sought after by stud interests, who have

the ability to put forward substantial offers.

Retirement options include the Equine Welfare Rehoming Program which is sponsored and supported by Racing NSW. This is a fantastic incentive as it takes care of the welfare of all thoroughbreds in their life after racing. We do everything we can to ensure our horses are looked

after and are well cared for in retirement.
