How to make Costa Rican Gallo Pinto?

Gallo Pinto

• It is one of the most tradition plates in Costa Rica. This dish is made of rice and beans and is served with bread and eggs.

Origin and meaning

• The literal meaning of gallo pinto is "spotted rooster.

• The origin of gallo pinto is unknown. Nicaraguans say that they took it to Costa Rica.

Ingredients• Red bell pepper• Onion• Oil• Bay leaves• Salt, • Pepper• Cumin• Cilantro• Beans• Rice• Bread• Eggs

Directions

• In a large skillet, combine the oil, bell pepper and onion and cook them.

• Add the cooked beans.• Add all your other spices to the mix (except for

the cilantro) and stir. • Then the white rice you prepared and mix

together. • Now you can serve this with fried eggs with

bread and butter.
