 SEASON NOTABLES…- This season was the 10th time in Flyers history that the team has started the season with a 3-0-0 record and first timesince the 1998-99 season. - This year was also the first time in franchise history that the Flyers won their first two games of the season on the road,and the weekend slate was just the fourth time in franchise history that the Flyers have opened the regular season withgames on back-to-back nights. Stevens is in his fourth season as head coach after leading the Flyers to a 44-27-11 record for 99 points (3rd place -Atlantic Division, 5th place - Eastern Conference). The Flyers surpassed their totals in wins (44) and points (99) from2007-08 and set a franchise record by finishing the regular season having allowed one shorthanded goal - previous recordin a single season was two (1967-68, 1978-79). He was promoted from assistant coach on Oct. 22, 2006 and is the 16thhead coach in Flyers history and 4th former Flyer to be named head coach (Paul Holmgren, Terry Murray, Bill Barber). In2007-08, Stevens led the Flyers to the Eastern Conference Finals with a 42-29-11 record (95 pts) - his first full season ashead coach. They finished 39 pts and 20 wins ahead of their totals from 2006-07 - 39-point turnaround was the most ofany team in the NHL in 2007-08. Rick Tocchet was named to the position of  Head Coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning on May 11, 2009. Tocchet is in his 25th year inthe NHL, playing 18 of them with Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington and Phoenix. He appeared in 1,144 careergames and recorded 440 goals, 952 points and 2,972 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 145 playoff games and netted 52 goalswith 112 points and 471 penalty minutes. Shortly after retiring in 2002, Tocchet joined the Colorado Avalanche as an assistant coach.He spent a season and a half on the bench with the Avalanche before joining former teammate Wayne Gretzky as an assistant coachwith the Phoenix Coyotes in 2005. He was named associate coach of the Lightning on July 9, 2008. Tocchet is one of three players inthe history of the NHL to record 400 goals or more and at least 2,500 penalty minutes. He won a Stanley Cup with the PittsburghPenguins in 1992 and was a four-time All-Star.
