Experience Northern Ireland Game of Thrones® territory and discover the Doors which tell the story of Season 6. As you visit each door use this souvenir passport to collect your 10 unique stamps.The Dark Hedges is a beautiful avenue of eighteenth century beech trees that were planted by the Stuart family to impress visitors as they approached the entrance to the Stuart residence, Gracehill House. Over two centuries later both the house and the stunning trees remain. Used as a backdrop for Kingsroad they have now become an iconic site.

In January 2016 a storm swept the island bringing down some of these famous trees. The wood from the fallen trees was salvaged and transformed into unique works of art in the form of 10 intricately crafted doors. Using iconic symbols and key scenes from the show, the doors work together to tell the tale of Season 6. The craftsmanship used to carve these doors is almost as breathtaking as Game of Thrones® itself (almost!).

With the culmination of Season 6 the doors have formed a Game of Thrones® trail connecting 10 pubs and restaurants with filming locations across Northern Ireland – so if you come across a door, you’ll know you’re in Game of Thrones ® territory.

Door 1 reflects the opening title sequence of the show. Referencing the geography of Westeros, while also setting the scene and reminding viewers of the state of play between the warring Houses at the close of Season 5.

Door 2 examines the growing conflicts within both Houses Bolton and Greyjoy. The iconic Kraken of House Greyjoy rises from the depths at the bottom of the door, while the flayed man of treacherous House Bolton reigns above all.

Study Door 3 carefully and you might spy a ship’s exodus from the Greyjoy controlled Iron Islands. Below that, a lone direwolf of House Stark appears above a Bolton occupied Winterfell, surrounded by signs of battle looming on the horizon.

The scale and dominance of the dragons in Door 4 accurately echo House Targaryen’s return to power at the close of Episode 4; certain elements also refer to their recent past misfortunes. Above it all keeping a watchful eye is the white falcon of House Arryn.

The dreaded Night King and his followers feature heavily on Door 5. White Walkers flank him on both sides commanding an army of undead Wights at his back. Below rests the Stark Sigil entwined in branch and root, preparing for the inevitable attack. Hold the door.

Door 6 champions House Targaryen, specifically Drogon – Daenerys’ most aggressive and fearsome dragon. The Dothraki stallions in his grasp signify their allegiance and willingness to finally follow their Queen across the Narrow Sea.

Signs of the recently deceased Three-Eyed Raven permeate Door 7, foreshadowing the events of the past that are about to bear down on the present. You might also spot a beech tree leaf hidden within a crown – a reference to the very trees of the Kingsroad itself, located mere metres away from this door’s final resting place.

Door 8 chronicles Arya Stark’s journey in the free city of Braavos. In the centre rests the faceless man coin that originally brought her to the city. Below that sits Needle, in reference to the final deadly confrontation that leads Arya to her decision to return home to Winterfell.

Echoing the ‘Battle of the Bastards’, symbols of both House Stark and House Bolton cover Door 9. Swords and shields litter the door like a bloody battlefield. The battle-scarred face of the Stark direwolf dominating over the flayed man below suggests a House Stark victory, but at a very heavy cost.

Door 10 represents the key events taking place in King’s Landing as Season 6 draws to a close. The Lannister lion reigns over the Sept of Baelor, signifying its destruction along with the deaths of hundreds of King’s Landing nobles, including some of House Tyrell and the Faith Militant. The bottom of the door also features Stark and Targaryen sigils, alluding to the revelations about the possible parentage of Jon Snow.
