WAVE THE FLAG5,000 Hurricane flags will be distributed at the stadium gates on the home opener. Fans are encouraged to bring back their hurricane flags from the first game to continue the “wave the flag” tradition. Fans are encouraged to “wave the flag” during the team entrance, scores and any other time during the game that they feel the need to “wave the flag.” Flags can be purchased at the Campus Corner Bookstore.
TU TEAM WALKOn game day, Tulsa football fans are encouraged to line 8th St. and Glenn Dobbs Dr. approximately two hours and 15 minutes prior to kickoff to cheer on the Golden Hurricane football team as they make their way to H.A. Chapman Stadium.
HURRICANE ALLEYHurricane Alley at Chapman Commons is the location for all your pre-game fun and entertainment for TU football in 2017. Live music, inflatable games, face tattoos, food and drinks make Hurricane Alley the place to be before the game. It opens three hours prior to kickoff.
RAISE THE FLAGGet excited for the tradition of sounding the Hurricane siren and “raising the flag” between the 3rd and 4th quarters.
THE “SOUND”The “Sound of the Golden Hurricane” marching band not only promotes school spirit by playing during games, but also provides halftime entertainment for the crowd. From movie soundtracks to patriotic tunes, classic to popular music, the “Sound” covers a variety of genres and serves as an integral part of the festivities.

Steve Largent was a second-term All-American receiver in 1975 and went on to a Hall of Fame career with the Seattle Seahawks. Howard Twilley led the nation in receiving in
1965 and became Tulsa’s second straight Heisman Trophy runner-up. Running back duo Michael Gunter and Ken
Lacy was tabbed as the Palomino Express when each raced individually for over 1,000 yards in the 1982 season.
Jerry Rhome was the 1964 Heisman Trophy runner-up, leading the nation in passing.
Trailing No. 15 Texas A&M by a score of 28-10 at halftime, Tulsa came back to beat the Aggies 35-34 in a game dubbed by the Tulsa World as “The Miracle on 11th Street.”
