Curriculum:
It is a project based on Social Studies - National curriculum 4-5 page 22: Our Tradition,
Social norms and values (- Comparative study of traditional social cultures - Language,
religion, costume and life style of one’s district - Participation in fair and festivals - Regard
and respect towards one’s region and nation - Personalities of one’s area - Exemplary work)
for class IV and V.
Introduction:
Nepal is a multilingual and multicultural country. So, people do observe multi-dozen feasts
and festivals. Ganesh Jatra is one of the most lively liked festivals of Chabahil dweller. The
festivities of Ganesh Jatra , beginning on the 2nd week of November and does last for a week
i.e. upto 2nd week of November.
Learning about value of festival in social life, is very important. In this project students learn
in the way of local curriculum.
The project enable the students to familiar about local jatra which is celebrated by the people
around chabahil, ganesthan. In this project, student's of Class IV and V observed the jatra and
its rituals and performed the mock jatra in school premises. This project helped students to
know about the food prepared in jatra, puja performed and clothes, ornaments and musical
instruments used in jatra.
