Surveying as Input to the Design Process

• We wanted to see what people wanted out of the GFE, or what they liked about it

• We’re designing a model permaculture backyard, but we’d like to design it in a way that our visitors would still like to visit

• A traditional charette wouldn’t work because people probably wouldn’t come - they are only visitors

Surveying as Input to the Design Process

• (pass around copies of survey)

• We wrote a survey; online

• We will use this feedback to modify our design if necessary, and to decide on plant selection

The Permaculture Ethics’ Influence on the Design

• People Care– This garden should be a space for people– The garden should educate people about the earth

• Earth Care– Educating people about the earth may encourage

them to start caring for the earth more

• Fair Share– The garden is for the community
