Opening Prayer
First Reading: James 1:21b-25
A reading from the letter to James:
Humbly welcome the word that has been planted in you and is able to save your souls.
Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves.
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his own face in a mirror. He sees himself, then goes off and promptly forgets what he looked like. But the one who peers into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres, and is not a hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, such a one shall be blessed in what he does.
The Word of the Lord. R: Thanks be to God

Pope Francis: June 3rd, 2020
“My friends, we cannot tolerate or turn a blind eye to racism and exclusion in any form and yet claim to
defend the sacredness of every human life.”
Refrain
Mary Shawn Copeland
“If my sister or brother is not at the table, we are not the flesh of Christ. . . For, it is through and in
Christ’s own flesh that the ‘other’ is my sister, is my brother; indeed, the ‘other’ is me…”
Refrain
Thea Bowman, Servant of God
“I can change things. I can make things happen. . .I know that God is using me in ways beyond my com-
prehension. God didn't give you light only to sit on it.” “Puedo cambiar cosas. Puedo hacer que las cosas
sucedan… Dios no te dio
luz solo para sentarte en ella.” Refrain
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Me I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and
war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that un-
armed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.”
Refrain
Diana Hayes
“I seek the elimination of oppression in all of its forms, regardless. Today, we can finally, it is hoped,
begin to break down the artificial barriers that still continue to block the vision of God and separate us
from one another. Then, we can truly, all of us in our rich and complex diversity, be working to bring
about the king-dom of God within our midst.”
Refrain
Wilton Gregory, Archbishop of Washington, May 31st, 2020
We must examine our own attitudes and actions in order to seek conversion from sin and turn our hearts
towards Christ in order to end personal and structural racism…. This moment calls us to be the Church of
hope that Jesus Christ created us to be in a world full of pain and despair." “Debemos examinar nuestras
Refrain
Third Reading: Luke 10:25-28
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
There was a scholar of the law who stood up to test Jesus and said, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read it?” He said in reply, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” He replied to him, “You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.”
The Gospel of the Lord. R: Praise to you Lord Jesus, Christ.
