Summary

• Andromeda(Artromeda) – Based off andromeda galaxy• Eventually galaxy will combine with ours and create a

connection

• is an app solely for assisting– Want to make something that can help artists find

spaces for their work• Based on specific mediums that an artist’s work

revolves around

Page 3: Gavyn and Miguel Reserach pp

• Social network– Geared towards artists(musicians, painters,

photographers, etc.) who are looking to expose their work and connect with spaces• Being spaces in websites, bars, galleries, coffee shops,

etc.

– We want it to be a social connection between curators of the spaces and the artist• Make a way for them to communicate

Curator/Artist Communication

– Want to design the interface where the space the artist is looking for is almost exhibited to them• Images of the gallery, map of location, and curators to

contact

– We want a separate interface for curators where artists are exhibited to them• Images of work, portfolio, etc.

Curator/Artist Communication

• We want curator and artist to be able to connect through app face to face– We want to retain that personal experience• Its not just about the work that the artist is presenting

but also its about the artist themselves– The goal is to get the artist and the curator as personal as

need be through the app so we feel that face time connection is a good goal

User Profile

• Artists(musicians, painters, etc.)• Artists who want to put work in to spaces• People who find getting into spaces difficult• People looking for work to put into their

spaces– Kind of like curators

Page 7: Gavyn and Miguel Reserach pp

Approaches

• Interviews• Surveys• App interface inspiration

Page 8: Gavyn and Miguel Reserach pp

Interviews

• Took people that fit into our user profile and interviewed them about Iphones and spaces– Asked questions that were derived around what

user’s look for in great iphone apps– Also asked questions about spaces• Process of having or getting work into spaces• Process of accepting work

– Interviewed artists and curators(people with spaces)

Page 9: Gavyn and Miguel Reserach pp

Surveys

• General questions that we sent around to friends and family– Pretty similar questions to interview– A bit less successful than interviews because it

was not personal• Some people didn’t know

– It was helpful because it helped us choose people to interview

Interface Inspiration

• Looked at facebook• Match making apps• Nyfa.com– Helps artists find spaces

Key Findings

• A lot of people with space are interested in having apps that have connections– People want apps that are interactive– People want apps that they can find a use for

everyday– Also people like social networks• They like feeling connected to people that fit in with

their personal interests

Page 17: Gavyn and Miguel Reserach pp

Key Findings about spaces

• Learned that putting work into galleries is all about knowing people and having experience– Similar to a job

• Upcoming artists are most likely going to have to start out in coffee shops or small unknown space– Its hard to be taken seriously unless you already

have personal connections

Page 18: Gavyn and Miguel Reserach pp

How to get that connection

• Its all about being there– To start, you need to go to galleries, go to spaces, and

experience it all yourself– You need to talk to people at these spaces– Get to know people in charge– Make friends in that community and then you can get involved

• We want our app to combine all these things into a much easier method– We want to create that personal experience with the right

people• A big part of why face to face is necessary• They want to know you, not just your work

Page 19: Gavyn and Miguel Reserach pp

Considerations of Design

• We want an interface that is able to show artists spaces that relate to their personal interests– Basically, we want the app to filter and categorize

spaces• For example: a painter will be shown spaces that want

paintings

Page 20: Gavyn and Miguel Reserach pp

Considerations…

• We want an interface that shows space holders artists– Similarly to an artists interface except it gives

them artists instead of spaces• The app will filter and provide a list that pertains to the

needs of a space holder– For example: if I am looking for painters, the app will show me

painters

Page 21: Gavyn and Miguel Reserach pp

Considerations

• We want finding spaces and artists to be completely geared around a personal experience– Want artists and space holders to be able to talk

and converse to create connections• It’s the best way to make it into a space

Page 22: Gavyn and Miguel Reserach pp

Next Steps

• Incorporating the information we gained into a usable interface– making it very interactive– Make an app that can be used daily– Create a way that people can touch bases– Make it personal
