Sri Gayatri Charitable Trust, Perambur with the blessings ofAlmighty and of the Acharyas is engaged in social service activities inand around Perambur for nearly a decade.
The trust had decided to start a Home for the aged, to cater to theneeds of the affluent and also to the less fortunate. Our vice ChairmanMr.S. Vasudevan, on the wishes of his parents, has donated three acresof land at Manavur for this noble cause. Lakshmi SrinivasaraoViridhdhasramam - home for the aged is to be constructed at Manavur,a small town sandwitched between the holy places of Thiruvallore andThiruvalankadu, famous vaishnavite and saivite places respectively.The tenements are to be constructed according to the needs of theinmates, self sufficient one bed room apartments (Around 400 Sq. ft.Area) and a large dormitary which will accomodate around 20 persons.
The Bhoomi Pooja for the project has already been done. Theinaugural construction work was blessed by Kanchi KamakotiPeedathipathi His Holiness Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal on21-09-2008 and we are desirous of dedicating the home for the aged bythe end of year 2009.
The complex will have a common Kitchen cum Dining hall whereonly vegetarian food of high quality will be served. A Library and arecreation hall to be built will be of an added value to the inmates.Regular medical attention to the inmates will also be provided. TheSathyanarayana temple at the head of the complex will be the place ofreligious activities that will bring tranquility, psychological comfortand spirituality to the inmates.
A Gosala and kitchen garden will be added attractions. The ap-proximate cost of single bed room appartment will be around 4.5 lacsper unit. The cost of construction of the dormitory will be around Rs.20 Lacs. Donors names will be inscribed for donation over Rs. 2000 androoms will be named after the Donor for Rs. 1.5 lakhs. Tax Exemptionunder 80G is available.
