one I will be informing you about is the ‘Male Gaze’

The Theory

allot of magazines and adverts as objects of desire and completely void of any identity.

Which supposedly degrades women inthe eyes of men.

The Male Gaze expresses an asymmetric power relationship, between the viewer and

viewed, e.g. man imposes his unwanted gaze upon women.

But there are flaws in this Theory.

Laura Mulvey only looks at one side of the side of the argument as there are allot of Magazines with male models that get Gazed at by women

Which has the same effect as the ‘Male Gaze’ as it reduces the man to a object of desire.

Feminist View

Some feminists argue that whether or not women welcome the gaze, they some women might merely be conforming to the hegemonic norms established to benefit the interests of men thereby underscoring the power of the male gaze to reduce a person to an object.

Feminists Believe that looking at women in this way is demoralising and wrong.

Feminists Believe all women should be treated equally to men and some they believe that women at the moment are still treat as lesser beings and not as equals to men.

Are they right? What do you think.
