CAR SHOW
3
After being rained out on April 9, our Car Show has been rescheduled for April 30, 2016. This will be our 41st annual Car Show “All GM Beach Classic”. This year we will celebrate
Dick Whitford’s “Big Bertha”, The Fiquette’s Chevelle, and George Person’s long lost GTO
on our event Tee Shirt. You can see the back design on our Car Show flyer in the newsletter and on our web site. Each pre-registered entrant will receive a shirt. And all volunteers signing up to work our Show will receive one.
This year 50 trophies will be awarded. You can sponsor a trophy for $25 which will then have your name/dedication on the plaque as the sponsor.
Linda Glaza sent out invitations to potential sponsors in January and we are receiving many raffle/silent auctions prizes. Don Popovich has been advertising our Show with advertisements and flyers at car shows and local businesses. We have a banner ad in www.socalcarculture.com. Visit their site for a look. Rob Weimer has been contacting potential vendors.
Linda Tully has been distributing raffle coupons. If you need more please contact her. Our raffle is a highlight of our Show. Prizes from sponsors and club members draw interest from everyone at the show.
It not only raises funds for our charity but gives the Car Show participants another focus in anticipation of awards.
Please let me know if you have a raffle/silent auction donation which needs to be picked up/delivered.
Volunteers for the Car Show have stepped up to help the Leads. Anyone who has not signed up and would like to help please let me know. Volunteers must sign up before March 26 (just like the pre-registration show cars) in order to receive a free event tee shirt. There is no guarantee that extra shirts will be available and those will be $15 each. All volunteers who cannot participate on April 30 please let me know ASAP, [email protected] or 310-378-4062. Thank you all for supporting our 41st Vette Set Car Show.

NAME BADGE DRAWING The name badge $60 lucky person was George Person. Yes, he was wearing his badge. According to my record keeping since 2012, George has not won the name badge drawing, however, he has won the 50/50 collection in Sep. 2014 for $47 and Oct 2013 for $65. Next month's drawing will be $10.

50/50 DRAWING: Marci O’Brien, who won the previous two 50/50 drawings, did not attend this month’s meeting. Before the drawing her significant other, President Jerry Clement, made a comment saying that “maybe” he would be lucky this month since Marci was not present to win. Well, Jerry must be living right. A potential new member, Lee Harris, was asked to reach into the 50/50 bucket and to please pull out just one ticket. Jerry won $65 while the club received $65. The last time that Jerry won was back in Oct. 2012, for $82.00. President Jerry was due to win!!
Congratulations to the lucky winners.
Thank you,
Rosie

HISTORICAL REPORT
The second running of the “Monday Driver’s Club” was organized and led by Jack Walter. This month, Jack’s plan was to tour the Orange County Coast from Seal Beach to Dana Point and have lunch at Dana Point. Our 10am meeting point was Krispy Kreme in Gardena.
We were rained out on the first Monday of the month (March 7), so we went on the following Monday. This day started out with sprinkles, but ‘eliminating cabin fever’ trumped ‘washing dirty cars,’ so we journeyed down the coast.
Jack took us to Ruby’s Shake Shack at Crystal Cove on PCH. Date shakes are one of their specialties. Those that didn’t bring their lunches, purchased eats at the Shack. Once there, the sun came out.
Group Photo at the Rock Store
Jack then led the group to our lunch spot at the Dana Point Marina.
