GCCI’S RESPONSE TO FLOOD DISASTER IN J&K

IN VIEW OF THE MAJOR DISASTER CAUSED BY FLOODS IN JAMMU & KASHMIR STATE, GCCI EMBARKED UP-

ON ITS TWO-PRONGED RELIEF & REHABILITATION PROGRAMME AFTER CARRYING OUT RAPID SURVEY AND

RECONNAISSANCE:

MOBILE PRIMARY HEALTH CARE & CANCER SCREENING CAMPS.

EDUCATIONAL SPONSORSHIP OF SCHOOL CHILDRENOF FLOOD AFFECTED POOR/DESTITUTE FAMILIES

UP TO 12 TH CLASS.

GCCI STARTED ITS OPERATION INITIALLY IN MANDAL AREA OF JAMMU DIVISION WHERE 45 VILLAGES WITH

POPULATION OF 1.50 LAKH HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BUT IT WILL EXPAND ITS OPERATION TO OTHER FOOD HIT

AREAS.

HEALTHCARE HAS EMERGED AS A GLARING NEED IN THE AFTERMATH OF CARNIVAL OF DEESTRUCTION

STAGED BY THE NATURE.

GCCI’S TEAM INCLUDING MR. GANESH BHAT, HEAD -PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT, MS AJEETA SINGH,

GM-CSR, MR.RAJEEV SHARMA, MANAGER- EDUCATION PROGRAM AND MR.JATINDER KUMAR, ASST.

MANAGER-EDUCATION PROGRAMME HELD ITS FIRST CAMP AT ST JOHN SCHOOL, SATWARI IN MANDAL

AREA OF JAMMU IN WHICH 300 PERSONS WERE EXAMINED AND PROVIDED FREE MEDICINES. THE SUS-

PECTED CASES OF CANCER WERE REFERRED FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS. THE PROGRAMME WAS WELL

COVERED BY THE MEDIA.

GCCI’S CENTRE AT GURGAON HAS BEEN PROVIDING SERVICE SINCE 2008 TO POOR PEO-

PLE LIVING IN AN AROUND GURGAON. IT ALSO HAS A MOBILE PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT

WHICH PROVIDES HOME CARE SERVICE TO THE POOR CANCER PATIENTS.

VILLAGE BANDHWARI,GURGAON

RURAL PRIMARY HEALTHCARE, AND CANCER SCREENING CENTRE

Global Cancer Concern India (GCCI) started rural Primary Health and Cancer Screening Centre at Teen Murti Hanuman Mandir Bandhwari near Gurgaon – Faridabad toll plaza for providing free Primary Health Care and Cancer Screening Centre for the poor, needy and disadvantaged persons of the surrounding villages -Bandhwari, Baliawas, Gawalphari, Ghatta and Mandi Village. The health centre was inaugurated on 20/6/2014. GCCI started the OPD facility with free medi-

cines on the same day. The Centre provides service through OPD / camps on every Friday of the

week.

FREEDOM FIGHTER ENCLAVE, NEW DELHI

AWARENESS PROGRAMME IN ASSOCIATION WITH SENIOR

CITIZENS ASSOCIATION

With the objective of spreading cancer awareness message among the masses, GCCI organized a Cancer Awareness Camp at Freedom fighter society . The Programme started with Audio Visual presentation on what is can-cer, its symptoms, its prevention, precautions and type of cancer by Dr Prateek. After the presentation, in an interactive session, the questions of the audience were answered by Dr. Prateek Banerjee and Mr. Ganesh Bhatt of GCCI.

MOHALI, CHANDIGARH

SCHOOL EDUCATION PROGRAMME

GCCI Chandigarh organised an Orientation Programme for the teachers and peons of Shemrock Sr. Sec. School, Mohali. This programme was done on Aug. 9 and was attended by about 45 staff members.

KALKA, HARYANA

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

GCCI Chandigarh organised an Orientation Programme for the teachers of Sophia Convent School in Kalka. This was done on August 5 and was at-tended by about 60 teachers. Later, this programme was followed up by an Assembly Talk for the students on Aug. 8, 2014.

MRS. MANJU SUJITH, GENERAL MANAGER, GLOBAL CANCER CONCERN, KERA-LA WAS PRESENTED A CHEQUE OF RS. 1,00,000 BY HIS GRACE MANAGER DR. ZACHARIAS MAR APREM METROPLITAN (ADOOR– KADAMPANADU DIOCESE). THIS AMOUNT WAS COLLECTED BY STUDENTS OF TAPOVAN SCHOOL.
