NN RRTNby Penguin used Gill Sans(commissioned by Mori-son for Monotype) for its covers and Times New Roman for its running copy. When the web came into being in thr early 1990s, it wans Times New Roman that became its most used font, providing exactly what Morison intended: legibility, despite its somewhat pivelated appear-once on the new platform. He was famous, not for his own designs, but for his cham-pioning of typography . He wrote a famous esaay entitled First Principles of typography and a well known book called a tally of typoes.
