Our MOOC
- topic- length of course- structure
Why We Chose Our MOOC. . .
1) Reading Materials
2) Videos
3) Goal-Oriented
Three Issues
Reading Materials
Reading Materials
Concerns:- Out-dated materials - Length of readings- Relevance of readings?
Reading Materials - Issues
Solutions:1) Suggest the learners find their own
articles which are relevant to the weekly topic and share them with the MOOC
Reading Materials - Solutions
2) Simply update the reading material to articles which have been written within the last five years
Reading Materials - Solutions
3) Reducing the number of the reading materials and providing a follow-up activity after reading to help students analyze concepts for a deeper understanding
Reading Materials - Solutions
How do you feel about these possible solutions? Do you think they would be beneficial as a learner or do you have other suggestions? Please explain
Reading Materials - Thoughts
Videos Some examples from week3
Concerns:- the number of videos - rigid consistency of the videos
Videos - Issues
1) In place of a video, have a hands-on activity so the learner can be an active participant of the class
Videos - Solutions
2) In place of some of the videos - have the learner search for their own video
Videos - Solutions
3) Make the videos optional while providing the same information in another format such as word, powerpoint, etc.
Videos - Solutions
4) Edit the educational video’s to make them shorter while focusing on the important concepts
Videos - Solutions
Please share your thoughts regarding our concerns and solutions about the videos in our MOOC

Goal-Oriented Examples from Week3 & Week2
- No specific goal to follow for certain activities
- The MOOC is very specific in some activities, and others no goals
Goal-Oriented - Issues
1) For the Activities include goals the learner should be working towards or a small task they can complete on their own. The learner can then explore after they have completed the simple task. This will keep them focused on the weekly topic while broadening their thinking.
Goal-Oriented - Solutions
2) Instead of always having the same specific instructions for certain parts of the week, mix it up more allowing the students more freedom in some areas while being more structured in other areas.
Goal-Oriented - Solutions
3) Using their checklist as an example, they could include a checklist for the activities, readings, and/or videos to keep the learner on task. This could help highlight the main points of the weekly lesson.
Goal-Oriented - Solutions
How do you feel about these solutions to the concerns on specific goals for our MOOC?
