The new air-cooled condensing units GEA Bock SHG56e/-L
New units with the HG56e compressor seriesThe GEA Bock HG56e series is a new development based on the HG44e series that have already proved suc-cessful in practice. The compressors combine state-of-the-art technology with the GEA design features that have been proven for decades. These replace the previous 4-cylinder series, the HG5 and also partly the HG6. Compared to their predecessors, the new 6-cylinder compressors offer an even higher level of efficiency as well as smoother operation. With the HG56e series, three sizes cover the range from 73.8 to 100.4 m³/h displacement (at 50 Hz).
A modern valve plate system, the latest generation of electric motors and an improved gas flow in the com-pressor increase the overall level of efficiency. The proven oil pump lubrication is used in all compressors, and this enables a greater range of speed control to be achieved in the operation of the frequency converter. The resistance to galling in case of insufficient lubrication has also been optimized – this is particularly im-portant for operation with natural refrigerants. As usual, ease of servicing was one of the main priorities in the development of the new HG56e compressors: the stators can be changed on site without special tools.
The advantages of the HG56e series were now transferred to the air-cooled condensing units: The new GEA Bock SHG56e/-L series will be available on the market from July 2017. The largest version, the unit SHG56e/1155-4, with 100.4 m³/h offers almost 20 % more dis-placement compared to the largest SHG5 model and replaces in most application ranges also the medium-sized version of the existing SHG6 series with 107.6 m³/h. The condensers used are of proven quality and as before are suitable for higher ambient temperatures as a standard. Independent of the ambient temperature – whether in the desert or at the Arctic Circle – GEA units always offer highest reliability and efficiency.

The motor winding is divided into two parts: partial winding 1 = 50 % and partial winding 2 = 50 %. This winding division reduces the start-up cur-rent needed for a partial winding start to ap-prox. 50 % of that for a direct start.
