The contribution and achievements of GITSIANs in academic and other co-curricular activities is admirable. There are many opportunities in the college which allow our students to grow as individual as well as academic personas. In addition to academics, there are many clubs also in the college which are running successfully and conducting many curricular, and extra-curricular activities for the complete development of the students. I am confident that more and more students will participate in the various activities which are necessary for building their personality and character. I wish all the staff members and the students to succeed in the future. N Sheth as Director of Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies. Dr K.N. Sheth who is Ph D in Engineering, Ph D in Law and his PhD in Management (in advanced stage of completion) joined our college on 21st Oct.2016. We consider ourselves fortunate to have a person with such extensive educational qualifications and experience of having worked in the government, consultation, industries and academia to lead our organization. Prior to joining GITS, he was Director (Operations) of Adani Institute of Infrastructure Engineering (AIEE) Ahmedabad, Gujarat while simultaneously holding the position as Dean Interdisciplinary Research in Gujarat Technological University for 5 years. He has held various positions including Principal/ Director of various constituent colleges of Gujarat University and Gujarat Technological University for over 15 years. Dr. Sheth possesses a rich experience spanning over three decades in diverse fields, which covers construction of industrial buildings and hotel projects and designing and executing Water Network as Executive Engineer in Government of Gujarat. This appointment of Dr. Sheth substantiates the commitment of GITS to consistently improve the quality of technical education and provide programs so that students learn practical and innovative skills required for the industry. The entire GITS fraternity welcomes the appointment of Prof. Dr. K. N Sheth as Director-GITS who brings with him expertise and commitment to improve the quality of education, and aims to create an environment and infrastructure to conduct high quality research and develop breakthrough technologies. He plans to set up collaborations with industry to improve research and strengthen the courses, enhance individual and societal empowerment and thereby help in nation building. SCIENCE-TECH PRO CAFÉ 2016' Project Exhibition Held at GITS

Gthe annual science technical fair, SCI-TECH Pro Café 2016 on 15th October 2016, at college campus, giving an opportunity

to senior school students to showcase their talent in designing engineering projects, models and posters. Students from various parts of the country participated in this event which saw an unprecedented success. The Chief Guest, Prof. B.L. Choudhary (Chairman, Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education) inaugurated the Sci Tech Pro Cafe 2016 with other dignitaries, Shri. Ketan Bhatt (Vice President, HR, Secure Meter), Shri S.R. Pandey (Senior Vice President, Udaipur Cement), and Shri. N.K. Sharma (Vice President – HR) who motivated the participants and encouraged the young engineers to engage themselves in industry oriented projects. The convenor of the Fair, Prof. Rajeev Mathur, Dean Student Affairs & HoD ECE emphasized the importance of innovation and project development to enhance the knowledge and skill among the youth today. The fair provided a platform to exhibit 400 projects developed by more than 700 participants from school students who showcased

their innate creativity and innovative skills. The projects were evaluated by Shri. Pankaj Singhal (Asst. VP Wonder Cement) and Sh. Ashish Ajmera (Director, RSDL- Udaipur).

In the category of Working – Model the winners were:

1. Adarsh Vidya Mandir SS School (Sirohi),

2. Bharti Vidya Bhawan (Banswara) and

3. Aditya Birla Higher Sec School (Khor Neemuch).

In the Science project; Mahrana Mewar Public School (Udaipur), Central Academy (Pali), St. Teresa SS School (Udaipur) won the first second and third positions respectively.

In Poster design category, St. Mary SS School (Udaipur), B S Memorial School (Abu Road), GNPS (Udaipur) were the winners. The winners were awarded with the trophy and prize money of Rs. 31,000/-, Rs. 21,000/- and 11,000/- to the first, second and third positions respectively.

MBA Fresher's party “Subharambh-2015” had successfully been celebrated on 9th September 2016, at Arjun Bagh, Udaipur. Dr. P.K Mehta, former principal GITS, all HOD's, faculty members and students of MBA dept. graced the event with their presence. The crown of Mr. and Miss Fresher was won by Mr. Rajendra Singh Panwar and Miss Kajol Purbia. 03

Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies celebrated the fresher's party “Bollygama” on the theme of Bollywood 90's show for B.Tech first year students on 1 October 2016. Prof. Dr. P. K Mehta (former Principal, GITS) and Mr. Babulal Jangir (Finance Controller) inaugurated the program with lamp lightening. The guest of the event Mr. Ankit Agarwal (Director Operations, GITS) graced the program with his eminence presence. The day also celebrated the unveiling of GITS college magazine 'GLITTERATI' for the year 2015-16. The chief guest Mr. Ankit Agarwal unveiled the magazine and felicitated the student coordinators of the GITS magazine committee. The ceremony was the pleasing one which was enjoyed by all the first and second year students of B.Tech. along with the HODs and faculty members of GITS. Students gave vibrant performances which captured the sight of the audience. Mr. Lavish Jain and Miss Priya Dhabhai won the award for Mr. and Miss Fresher 2016.

Blood Donation Camp in The CampusThe NCC and NSS Club of GITS had organized a blood donation campus in memory of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay on his birth anniversary i.e. 25th Sept 2016. More than 100 units' of blood have been donated by the students and staff member of GITS in this camp. Deendayal Upadhyaya was a man of soaring idealism and had a tremendous capacity for organization and reected different aspects of a social thinker, economist, educationalist, politician, writer, journalist, speaker and organizer. GITS appreciate all the students and staff members for their contribution to the social cause.

GITS celebrated the Independence Day with great enthusiasm and respect for our country. The ceremony took place in the college premises with large crowd of staff and students. The event started with GITS NCC cadet's parade. The chief guest of the event, Prof. P.K Jain unfurled the national ag and all in unison sang the Nation Anthem and expressed the joy of our freedom. The chief guest addressed the students and said “It is a proud moment to see the zeal of the students for the nation. Students must understand the real meaning of freedom which is to make our country corruption free”. The ceremony was followed by the colorful performances of the first year students on the patriotic theme which awakened everyone's feeling towards our nation. Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity.

Freedom in the mind……faith in the words……pride in our souls……let's salute the nation on this auspicious day.

INDUCTION PROGRAM FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTSGITS Family welcomes all the B.Tech 1st Year students admitted for session 2016-17 to the “Induction Program” entitled “EMPOWERING STUDENTS TOWARDS PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT” on 29th July 2016. This was an initiative to groom the overall personality of the students and make them acquainted with the culture of the institute. The aim of the program was to ensure that every student feels like home, engaged and excited to begin with their new and important stage of education. The function was graced by the top Management dignitaries, Principal GITS, Finance Controller, Deans and HODs of all the departments along with faculty members of the college.

TREE PLANTATION DRIVE HELD AT GITS Students and Faculty members showed their solidarity to protect the environment and create a cleaner and greener campus by turning out in large numbers to participate in the Tree Plantation drive organized by GITS and the NCC wing of the college on 2nd July 2016, headed by the Associate Prof of MCA and NCC Officer, Lt. Chintal Patel.

The Principal & Finance Controller launched a month long Plantation Drive by planting saplings of a variety of trees. The drive saw the whole –hearted participation of the Deans, HODs and all the faculty, staff and students of GITS, who pledged their commitment to create

awareness about conservation of nature, especially trees and lakes.

Principal GITS, beckoned the GITSians to contribute towards protecting the environment and said “Tree plantation is a harbinger of prosperity. Plants eliminate the pollution and are beneficial for the health, too. Our motive is not just to plant the saplings but rear and nurture them as well. The number of saplings planted is immaterial, what matters the most is to pay meticulous attention for their nurture, protection and growth.”

GITS Celebrated INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

in accociation with NCCThe “International Yoga Day” was celebrated at Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies in association with NCC on 21th June 2016. Around 200 students and staff members participated in the celebration. Hon. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi states, “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. This tradition is 5000 years old. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in wellbeing. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day.” The event was headed by Principal GITS along with all the deans of various engineering streams. Principal GITS, also motivated the students about the benefits of practicing Yoga which relieve stress and depression, and rejuvenate peace of mind, mental and physical health. The activity started as a new trend of Yoga at GITS.

TECHNOKRITI 2016A successful National Level project exhibition Technokriti-2k16 had been organized at GITS on 16 June, 2016. It was the innovative project exhibition for diploma students along with panel discussion for faculties. This competition was presented as an opportunity for the students of Diploma and B.Sc. to leverage their theoretical knowledge and creativity to address diverse real life issues that need attention in the engineering sector.

A panel discussion with faculty members, was also organized to create awareness among the students on the possible higher level education options and to approach their career. Almost more than

300 students from different colleges and zones had participated in this exhibition in which cash prize was secured, First by Govt. Polytechnic College Bikaner worth Rs 21000, Second Prize by Vidya bhawan Polytechnic college Udaipur worth Rs 16000, and Third Prize by Gov. Polytechnic College, Banswara worth Rs 11000 and 5 consolation prizes were also awarded of worth Rs 1000. Prof. Uma Shanker Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology inaugurated the

event as the chief guest. Many Dignitaries, Principals, had participated in this event as a guest and exhibits their support to the students.

Department of Computer Science Engineering had organized one day workshop on “EXPLORING IOT USING Raspberry Pi” at GITS on 16th Sept, 2016. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Preark Mody, data scientist working in Leaf Technologies Mumbai.

New Internet of Things (IoT) applications that leverage ubiquitous connectivity, big data and analytics are enabling Smart City initiatives all over the world. These new applications introduce tremendous new capabilities such as the ability to remotely monitor, manage and control devices, and to create new insights and actionable information from massive streams of real-time data. The Raspberry Pi is a series of credit card sized single-board computers developed in the United Kingdom by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to promote the teaching of basic computer science in schools and developing countries.

Mr. Prerak demonstrated the working of Raspberry Pi to participating students of B.Tech II Year and III computer science. Around 90 students are participating in the workshop. Dr. Raghuveer, HOD CSE welcomed and addressed students about the importance of IoT in smart cities.

ARGUSOFT RECRUITED 6 B.TECH STUDENTS IN CAMPUS DRIVE HELD @ GITS

Argusoft an IT Service company had recruited 6 B.Tech CSE students in a campus drive held @ GITS on 19 Sept 2016.The students have been offered a package of 3.75 lakh INR per anum at Gandhinagar (Gujrat) location.

Argusoft augments client teams with their software development, testing, maintenance and support. The primary focus is Business Automation and SOA system integration, leveraging Java, PHP, dotNet and Web 2.0 related technologies. They deliver these services as turnkey projects or through their extended team m o d e l ( m O D C – m a n a g e d O f f s h o r e Development Center), providing a completely managed team, to ensure continuity and efficiency.
