Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) is highly ranked and fully chartered institute of Pakistan established through a Legislative Act of Sindh Assembly (Sindh Act No. XI of 1995). In addition to the traditional LLB route, SZABIST offers the Certificate of Higher Education in Common Law (CertHE) which is a one-year diploma qualification also awarded by The University of London, UK. This qualification can be a stand-alone qualification or can be used as a route to enter the LLB programme for those who do not have the qualifications to be admitted to that programme. Candidates will study the same courses as a first year LLB student, along with an English course. Upon successful completion of the same, they will have the option of transferring to the second year of the LLB programme.

SZABIST offers a Three years BA(Hons) in Business Studies (BABS) degree from the Coventry University, UK. Students will complete two years at SZABIST (Karachi) and proceed ahead to complete the third year from the Coventry University, UK and earn an International Degree.

BA (Hons) in Business Studies

SZABIST offers the University of London International LLB Programme which is an evening programme and can be completed in a minimum of three and a maximum of six years for those who do not have a previous degree. For candidates already having a degree, the degree may be completed in two years. Upon successful completion of the required courses, The University of London, UK awards the LLB degree.

Admission Requirements

For admission in the BBA/BABS/BS programs, the candidate must have completed O-Levels (minimum 8 subjects including 5 compulsory subjects; English, Urdu, Maths, Islamiat & Pakistan Studies) and A-levels (minimum 3 Subjects)/12th Grade/Intermediate with minimum 50% marks or equivalent from a recognized institution.For BS Computer Science, candidates with mathematical background will be preferred.

BBA, BABS, BS (A&F), BS (Entrepreneurship), BS (Media Sciences), BS (Social Sciences) & BS (Computer Science)

Candidates are required to have 45% marks in Intermediate (FSc) or O-Levels (minimum 8 subjects including 5 compulsory subjects; English, Urdu, Maths, Islamiat & Pakistan Studies) and A-levels (minimum 3 subjects including any two of these subjects; Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).

BS Biosciences & BS Biotechnology

For admission in the B.Ed program, the candidate must possess16 years of Education (MA, M.Sc., M.Com. or equivalent) in any discipline other than Education like Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and others with at least Second Division/2.0 CGPA from a university recognized by HEC.

B.Ed (1.5 Years) Secondary

The candidate must have 14 years of education with minimum second division/2.0 CGPA from a university recognized by HEC.

MA (Education)

The candidate must possess a 4 years bachelor degree with minimum 2.5 CGPA or 16 years of education with minimum 55% marks from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

MBA & CILT (Certification)

The candidate must have completed Intermediate (Pre-Engineering)/ O-Levels (minimum 8 subjects including 5 compulsory subjects; English, Urdu, Maths, Islamiat & Pakistan Studies) and A-levels (minimum 3 subjects) or equivalent with a combination of (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) with minimum 60% marks. Candidates with DAE (Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, & Instrumentation / Automation) having at least 60% aggregate marks from an Institute recognized by the Government can also apply.Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in matriculation and in Intermediate/equivalent exams.

BE Mechatronic Engineering

EMBAFor admission in the EMBA program, the candidate must possess 16 years of education or 4 year bachelor degree with minimum 55% marks/2.5 CGPA from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in any field of study with 3 years professional work experience (verifiable) at some well known organization. This requirement is necessary to seek admission in this program.

Master of Advertising, Master in Project Managementand MS in Project ManagementThe candidate must have a 4-years professional degree/16 years of education with minimum 55% marks/2.50 CGPA from an HEC recognized institution. GAT (General)/HAT relevant is mandatory for MS students with minimum 50% score.

MS in BiosciencesFor admissions in the MS Biosciences program, candidates must possess 16 years of education in any field of life/biological sciences with minimum 50% marks/2.0 CGPA from a university recognized by HEC.GAT General/HAT relevant is mandatory for MS students with minimum 50% score.

MS in Mechatronic EngineeringFor admissions in the MS Mechatronic Engineering program, candidates must possess BE in Mechatronics / Mechanical / Electronics / Electrical / Telecommunication / Industrial / Manufac turing / Aerospace / Avionics with minimum 55% marks/2.0 CGPA from a university recognized by HEC. MS SS (International Relations, Economics, Psychology & Sociology)For admission in the MS SS (International Relations, Economics, Psychology & Sociology) program, the candidates must possess 16 years of relevant education with minimum 2nd division/2.0 CGPA from a university recognized by HEC. GAT (General)/HAT relevant is mandatory for MS students with minimum 50% score.

MS in Public HealthFor admissions in the MSPH program, the candidate must have 16 years of education with minimum 50% marks/2.0 CGPA from a university recognized by HEC.

MBBS/BDS/MD/BSc Nursing 4 Years/DVM/BSc Paramedics-4 years /BSPH/Pharm D/BS Physiotherapy and BS Biological & Life Sciences/Equivalent.

Masters in Environmental Sciences/Business Administration/Nutrition and Social Sciences (Sociology/ Psychology / Anthropology) / Equivalent. GAT General/HAT relevant is mandatory for MSPH/MSPHPM students with minimum 50% score.

GAT General/HAT relevant with minimum 50% score is also required.

MS in Educational Leadership and Management

*Candidates applying with a 1-year B.Ed Degree are required to complete 6 bridging courses of 18 credits at SZABIST.

MS in Media StudiesFor admission into MSMD Program candidates must possess 16 years of education with minimum 2nd division /2.00 CGPA from an HEC recognized university. Candidates with 4-year non media related discipline degree (BBA, BSCS, MSc., MCom., MA etc.) may apply but will require to complete defciency conversion courses (Up to 18 credit hours to be determined in consultation with Admission Committee). GAT (General) or HAT relevant is mandatory for all MS candidates with a minimum score of 50%.

Candidates who do not have Media Sciences (including Communication Design, Applied Arts, Social Sciences, Advertising/Marketing, and Performing Arts etc.) background, following conditions will apply.• Students need to complete four remedial/defciency courses (12 credits hours) in the frst semester before they will be permitted to continue regular courses.• This semester will be considered zero semester and the credits will not contribute to the CGPA.• These courses will be mentioned on the transcript with a zero GPA.• The length of the completion of the degree will increase by one semester though the maximum limit of four years of degree completion will remain the same.

Conditions for MSMD 2020-21 candidates with no Media Sciences.

Passes in two subjects at ‘A’ Level and at least a grade 'C' in three further subjects at ‘O’ Level or Bachelor’s degree holder in any discipline. (over lapping subjects in ‘O’ & ‘A’ Levels will not be counted).

LLB

You should fulfil one of the following requirements at the time of admission.• C in GCE 0-Level English.• IELTS Score of 6 is achieved with a minimum of 5.5 in each sub-test.• (TOEFL) iBT Test of English as a Foreign Language: 87 overall, with 21+ in Reading and Writing sub-tests and 19+ in Speaking and Listening sub-tests. (Given in the last 3 years)

English Language Requirements

Pass in Intermediate with minimum 55% in total OR 6 passes in GCE O-Level. In addition, the candidate must have an IELTS score of 6 OR have obtained at least a ‘C’ grade in GCE O-Level English.

Entrance Tests & InterviewIf you fulfill the admissions requirements as above, you must also pass the two online tests conducted by University of London and SZABIST respectively. Once you have passed these tests, the last requirement before registration is to pass is an interview conducted at SZABIST.

The candidate must have completed O-Levels (minimum 8 subjects including 5 compulsory subjects; English, Urdu, Maths, Islamiat & Pakistan Studies) and A-levels (minimum 3 Subjects)/12th Grade/Intermediate with minimum 50% marks or equivalent from a recognized institution.

BABS

PhD ProgramsA candidate with MA / MS / MPhil or any other equivalent degree with minimum 17.5 years of formal education in the relevant field from HEC recognized local or foreign university may apply for direct admission in a PhD program. To apply for admission in PhD program, the candidate must have obtained minimum of 3.0 CGPA, cleared the admission test and interview, and have passed GRE/ GAT (subject) with minimum 60% score.

For Ph.D. Biosciences, SZABIST’s own GAT Subject test has to be cleared with 70% score at the time of admission.

A student may be asked to complete other pre-requisite/deficiency courses/thesis before taking the required courses. The decision on number of pre-requisite courses is taken by the Admissions Committee of relevant department. For non-relevant degrees, the candidate will be required to register for additional Masters level courses as pre-requisites as per the guidance provided by theAdmissions Committee.
