A6 RINGDEBARKER

The Nicholson A6 Debarker is designedfor mills that process moderate quantities ofhigh value hardwoods and softwoods.Applications where superior fiber protec-tion, very clean debarking and a steady andreliable supply of logs into the mill are thekeys to increased profitability.

The A6 combines high reliability, lowmaintenance, low capital cost, excellentbark removal and maximum protection ofyour valuable wood fiber .

The A6 is a rugged in-line debarker wherethe log is not stopped or taken off-line as incutter-head type systems.

The A6 avoids another major problem ofcutter-head, flail and drum debarkersystems; fiber damage.

The smooth action of the A6’s spinningring removes the bark at the cambium layerwithout disturbing valuable wood fiber.

This makes the A6 an excellent investmentthat will pay for itself very quickly com-pared to other less ‘fiber friendly’ systems.

Installing or retrofitting is simple, thanksto the fixed-height feedworks and slidingring design of the A6.

The bottom of the log always stays at aconstant height, letting you use simpleconveyors or hourglass rolls to feed thedebarker.

Both log feeding and debarking areautomatic. The operator also has a full arrayof preset knife arm pressure overrides tofine tune the debarking of each individuallog. This is great for situations where youhave mixed species, large diameter rangesor unpredictable log conditions.

When a log enters the A6, the debarkingring automatically slides up or down tocenter on the incoming log.

Powerful hydraulic cylinders on theholddown rolls smoothly and accuratelyhold each log, even crooked or frozenwood.

Fabricated chain that is easy to repair andreplace on-site is provided in the standardfeedworks configuration.

The Nicholson A6 is available in 22, 27,35 and 44 inch ring sizes, and in single ortandem ring configurations.

You can even get a tandem ring A6 withthe patented Nicholson Stringy Bark SlitterRing for species that have fibrous bark andare difficult to debark, convey or hog. Thisring solves all three of these problems atonce!

Proven Nicholson Air Seal rings arestandard on the A6. These variable pressureAir Seal rings let you adjust debarkingpressure, or open and close the knife arms,during debarking.

A6 rings are the same rings used onNicholson’s other debarkers, including theadvanced Nicholson A5B and A8 highspeeddebarkers.

A complete hydraulic power unit with oilheater, all final drives (motors optional),automatic ring centering, and pre-plumbedair and electrical circuits are all standard onthe A6.

The A6 is a tough and simple design. It isalso a design that can grow as your needschange. We offer options like ElectronicRing Centering and Analog ProportionalKnife Arm Pressure Control for enhancedsmall / large log debarking.
