Professional Testing Record Basic Skills Testing required for entrance into the PECT and certification3 Candidates may use qualifying scores from individual tests (Reading, Writing, and Mathematics) from
different vendors (SAT, ACT, PAPA and/or ETS CORE) to meet the basic skills assessment requirement
within each content area (Reading, Writing, and Mathematics).
Composite scores ONLY apply when using either the entire PAPA or CORE assessment series.
FOR SAT and ACT SCORES. If Duquesne University did not receive your official test scores directly from
the testing vendor, then scores must be obtained from the College Board or ACT. Scores that were not
submitted to Duquesne via your high school transcript are not considered official, per PDE.
o Please follow the step-by-step instructions when contacting College Board or ACT.
o Official test scores must be sent to the student in an envelope sealed by the vendor. DO NOT have
them sent to Duquesne.
o Students should bring their unopened, official scores to Lisa Patrick in Student and Academic
Services, 214 Canevin Hall.

3 Passing scores are set by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Passing scores are subject to change. Candidates are
obligated to earn the score that is in effect at the time of application for certification 4 The dates in parentheses indicate when PDE implemented the test as an assessment of basic skills 5 Number in parentheses for PAPA and ETS Core represents minimum qualifying score needed toward composite score 6 The composite score is NOT a total of straight minimum scores; must meet minimum qualifying score in at least one area 7 No composite score is available; each test must be passed with the minimum qualifying score
