    Before you start

    Place your personal belongings onshelves or inside the drawer of the table

    and keep valuable belongings inside thepockets.

    Clean your working area. Good work

    and good results can only be attainedwhen you observe exactness, neatnessand cleanliness.

    Before you start

    Pay attention to the explanations,instructions and precautions given by

    your instructor.Familiarize yourself with activity you areto perform by reading carefully the

    introduction, objectives, and proceduregiven in the activity. Never performunassigned activities.

    While performing an experiment.

    Do not fool around in the laboratory itis not a playground.

    Do not eat and drink in the laboratory.Do not smoke, as some of the reagentsare flammable.

    Do not taste any chemical in thelaboratory. Most chemicals arepoisonous.

    Be careful in handling chemicals andglass apparatus.

    Carry all large bottles with both hands,one at the bottom and one at the neck.

    Keep volatile and flammable solvents

    away from an open flame.

    Do not use more chemicals that what iscalled for the experiment.

    Do not return excess reagent to theoriginal at least twice before taking asample.

    Make sure that the covers of the bottlesare not interchanged.

    Label the chemical reagent acquired.Arrange systematically on your workingtable the materials and apparatus

    needed for the experiment.Work carefully to avoid accidents.

    Wash off with plenty of water anyspilled acid or other corrosive

    chemicals. Neutralize acids with baseand vice versa. Wash thoroughly withplenty of water.

    Develop the habit of rinsing droppersand rods immediately after use.

    Record all observations and necessarydata on the provided report sheet.

    Recheck your data. Answer all questionon the allotted blank spaces usingconcise statements. Consult your

    lecture notes whenever necessary.

    Wash and dry all the apparatus usedand return them to their proper places.

    Dispose water-soluble materials in thesink and flush with plenty of water.Solid wastes like tissue, paper,

    matchstick and other similar materialsmust be discarded into the waste cansand never in the sink.

    leaving and dry them with a cleantowel.

    Present the work output to your

    instructor for checking.Fill-out the assigned laboratory activity.

    Submit written group report. Make surethat written reports are short and

    concise. It must meet the activityobjectives.

    Close gas cocks and faucets, and switch

    off the lights and ceiling before leavingthe room.
