Your laminate flooring comes with specific instructions detailed to its specific brand. Reading these can help greatly.
#1 – Read instructions
#2 Organize all tools & supplies
• Organize all your tools prior to installation to make for a smooth install process
• Make sure you have enough laminate for your project – you should always have at least 5-10% for waste.
Tip #3: Underlayment
• Purchase the correct underlayment for your installation. Wood subfloors require a basic padding; cement require a vapor barrier.
When the boxes are stacked, cross stack them. This will eliminate any potential warping or bending of the laminate planks.
Room temperature should be 65 degrees Fahrenheit Make sure to open cartons right before you install
Tip #4 acclimate boxes
Tip #5: Clean Subfloor
• Sweep & clean your subfloor before laying any underlayment or flooring down.
Subfloor must be in good repair. If it is not intact, or smooth, make sure this is corrected before you lay the underlayment.
Hint: laminate flooring should NEVER be installed on existing residential carpet.
#6 – Repair subfloor
Do not install planks if they have any signs of damage. This couldlater lead to installation issues and void your warranty.
HINT: SAVE QUESTIONABLEPLANKS FOR LATER USE.YOU CAN CUT THE DAMAGEDAREA OFF AND STILLUSE FOR INSTALLATION.
Tip #7: check each plank
#8 - Expansion Gap
• Leave a 1/4” expansion gap using spacers around the room while installing planks
• Hint: bigger rooms require bigger expansion gaps
Tip #9 Cutting
• When cutting laminate panels, the rotation of the saw blade must always cut into decorative layer of the laminate flooring.
• Hint: do not cut in the room you are installing in
Tip #12 - Wall Base & Quarter Rounds• Be sure NOT to nail your wall base or quarter
rounds into your installed flooring
