Layout/StructureThe main article on the front cover is on the left so that it is easier to see as people read left to right . None of the text covers Eminem and he is in the centre to draw more attention to them but it is quite common to have the him on the right so you have more space to put articles on the left. Most magazines will have a barcode in the bottom right but this one doesn’t so it has more space for the articles but the barcode is most likely to be placed on the back of the magazine. Almost none of the text is angled so that it is easier to read. The mast head is large and at the top and has been layered so that it doesn’t cover the his face as it is seen as disrespectful. Also established magazines don’t need a quite so bold masthead as they are known so it is easy to spot them. Also having none of the text going over Eminem displays that there is going to be an article about him inside the magazine. It has real rap written in the top right so it displays that it is a rap magazine. Small text at the bottom left of the page displays their website URL so they can get people to look at there website but not take up as much space.

Presentational devicesIt has a colour scheme of white red and black but also has a couple faded letters. Words in red are more important than the others as it is meant to make them stand out. the photo of Eminem is related to the main article. This has the same style as other vibe magazines as it sticks with a white background and red text for the main article. It has faded the colour of the un important words or the artists that aren't as popular/important to the article. It a thick black box Real Rap is in with large letters to be more represented of what the magazine is about. It has red speech marks around a quote to highlight it.

Language features

It has various amounts of question marks to interest people as they would want to know the answer

Alliteration to make it stick in peoples heads

Pull quote to interest people into looking at the magazine, this exact quote would interest people even more because of the words ‘Almost Died’. As this makes people question why and how.

This makes it seem as the best as it says real rap making it more appealing to people who say that ‘raps changed’.

This makes people think that they know who the best rapper is to make people wander who it is, this also can be a selling point for the artist that is ‘declared’ the best rapper.

ContentAll the parts of the text are labelled with a number and the main title of each bit is larger than the small amount of text below so that it is easy to read them. The content written isn't all based off of what’s on the front cover they will also have the information about other articles inside which aren't as bag as the ones on the front, also there are entertainment pages like crosswords in it which are put in a small spot in the bottom left. The content stays at similar amounts for each small article.

Page 8: Generic conventions

Layout/StructureIt is laid out so the magazines logo/name is in the top left so it is still easily identifiable. All the text is written in columns. It also has the contents put into sections like features which aren't always in numerical order but they have gone in order of the page numbers that they are even though. They have boxes around all of the headings to highlight them better. They have linked the article related to the image is written in a box overlaying the image

Page 9: Generic conventions

Presentational devicesThey have made a really large image of a group which are in an article they have large text fir the headings and sub headings. The titles of all the articles are in bold to draw more attention to them and the little amount of information of each article is written in small writing as it isn't too important to the contents page itself. The feature overlaying the image is in much larger text than the rest making it seem or important than the other bits of text

Page 10: Generic conventions

Language featuresThey don’t have many language features the main one is under each article title as it is a small bit of text trying to bait people into looking at the article. And the titles are also designed to draw you in with titles like ‘the 20 greatest oasis tracks’ make you want to see what they are and if you agree with them or so you can listen to them

The artist has a full page image next to the interview so that people know that the article will about her. Her name is written in much larger letters than the main text to also make sure that people know that the interview is about/to do with lady Gaga. At the beginning of the interview they have a letter much larger than the rest of the text in bold usually in a sans font so that it stands out and makes it so you know where to start reading if you don’t want to read an introduction. They have the usual colour scheme for the magazine and they have the reverse of their logo with an L as that is the first letter of lady Gaga’s name. They also have the page number and the logo of the magazine in the bottom right hand corner in really small letters/numbers. This is also separated from the main part of text. They have the logo in the bottom right to keep their branding on their pages. They also have their website in the bottom of the page so they can get attraction to their website so they can get people to read more on the article on their website

Page 12: Generic conventions

They also have the date of the article written to the bottom of the page to show whether the article is out of date and/or when it was written and whether its still relevant
