Macedon Angus Farm in Mooresville, ALSimmental and SimAngus Lots Selling

Page 2: Genetic Connection

ear Simmental breeders and cattle producers,

On behalf of the Randy Moody and the sale consignors of the Genetic Connection I would like to take this

opportunity to invite each of you to the 2nd annual Genetic Connection to start off the fall sale season. The

Genetic Connection sale is Saturday August 4th in Mooresville, Alabama at the Macedon Angus sale facility.

The sale site is easy to get to being just off I-65 and Macedon has had 50 plus sales at this location. The

Genetic Connection has been under the direction of Randy Moody with other great consignors from Alabama

and Mississippi. All the Genetic Connection group has pretty much the same philosophy on Simmental genetics,

produce cattle with eye appeal, body, rib and capacity that will be efficient as possible, have above average

EPDs backed by strong and predictable cow families. One other important factor is that each breeder stands

by their product 100%. As sale manager I can safely say there is a strong set of Simmental and SimAngus

genetics in this sale. Another positive aspect is that the consignors involved in this sale are excited about the

Simmental business and definitely bringing a great set of cattle for your selection. There is no doubt you can

select genetics that will fit in the top of your program.

Last years sale was a big success with cattle selling to Alabama and eleven other states. Many cattle have

done well for the 2011 purchasers however we want to recognize Chris Beins and family for their purchase

and blue ribbon success. By the time you read this letter he and his juniors will be back from the AJSA

National Show in Ohio to Utah. Congratulations to all. As you review the catalog, study the young group

of genetics offered here in Mooresville. Also, don’t forget the a great set of commercial SimAngus females

coming from two highly respected commercial breeders. Whether you are a purebred breeder, commercial cattle

producer , or just wanting some excellent replacement females it will pay you to be at the Genetic Connection.

Don’t forget you could be lucky in several ways in your attendance, having the opportunity to purchase some

great cattle and having a opportunity to win several great donors prizes.

We are pleased to assist the breeders involved in the Genetic Connection as they show case their programs.

Please make plans to be with the consignors on sale day and join in the Simmental fun. If you have any

questions prior to the sale please contact myself, Drew or Holli Hatmaker, Jeremie Ruble or Randy Moody.

We will be glad to assist you in anyway. Also I strongly encourage you to contact any of the consignors, they

know there product. Don’t forget it will pay you to be there sale day. Take the time to review pedigrees and

pictures in the catalog you will find something to fit your program. See you at the sale.

• Adj BW : 64• This heifer is from one of the most exciting group of calves in the young program of JRW. The whole flush of calves look great and are consistent in their type and kind. We have always liked the progeny of Net Worth by the ones we seen in the Land of Lincoln sale so we did the same thing. Boy did it work. Y8039 is striking, well balanced and correct from the ground up. Her dam, Take My Breath we purchased in the Alabama sale a couple years ago and that Power Stroke donor is one of the top donors in the young JRW program. This SimAngus has a great EPDs proof and all the right pieces for the future. Her full sister recently was Reserve Grand SimAngus in the Eastern Regional in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. • Selling 5 embryos guaranteeing 2 pregnancies when transfer is done by certified embryologist.• We selected R900 out the Sunset View Female sale last year to be a strong foundation for our donor program. Since she arrived, she has done nothing but impress us and everyone who stops by. This powerfully constructed Powerline sired female is an own daughter of the great JBH Sheza Dandy. Four daughters by three sires just sold at the Family Traditions Female Sale for an average of $3300. We know we haven’t even scratched the surface of this great female’s potential. The mating to Movin Forward has already proven to be a home run and is an outcross to Dream On. This decision could be the easiest one you make all fall.

• Pick of the calves by SVF/CLRWTR Sheza Star T800 x Mr NLC Upgrade or SVF/CLRWTR Sheza Star T800 x JF Milestone• We feel this genetic lot has loads of potential and future. We are selling the pick of calves from the T800 donor by the sires of Upgrade and Milestone. The T800 is a daughter of the legendary Benchmark and SVF Sheza Star. Sheza Star not only commanded a high price for half interest several years ago, she has went on to produce daughters and sons that are breed leading in many aspects. Whether you desire top notch show oriented females or functional good producing power females Sheza Star has been able to do the job. On the bull end she has produced herdsires like Star Power and Star Player. Many of the top sellers have went on to perform for good programs across the country. T800 is cow that is complete, well balanced and has the best udder of any of the Star daughters in production. Pick up any catalog or Register and you can see how the Star family has flourished. On the pick from Sheza Star T800 you have the opportunity of pick from 16 calves to be born in September by the high growth bull Upgrade and the exciting producer Milestone. Also, if you want you can even select from T800’s natural calf by Bar CK Dominator which is due in the fall also. We have opened the gates wide on this opportunity. With the producing ability to Sheza Star T800 and the number of consistent quality calves to select from, the hardest part is making your selection. No matter what, the reward in the end will be a great investment. Contact Tyson Moreno or any member of the DP Sales team for additional details in your selection process. Calves will be on the ground in September so plan a trip in the future to Mississippi. T800 is homozygous black.

• Since walking trough the sale ring at the New Direction Sale, Phyllis has done nothing but gain fame. She is a top Power Drive daughter and out of the always dependable Ebony Antoinette maternal line. Her sleek front combined with her thick top and massive hip, it’s easy to see why she is a crowd pleaser. Her power doesn’t stop with her phenotype; her impressive progeny list is growing rapidly. A top daughter made her big splash last fall, selling at Hudson Pines Sale for $19,000 going to the Canada family of Kentucky. That female has been very successful in the show ring last fall and this spring. Several top breeders have added genetics out of Phyllis such as the Trennepohl’s, Haley’s and Blankenship’s. Whether your program is focused on purebreds or percentage these two matings have a lot to offer. The numbers are balanced, the homework is done, now just take your pick.

• Selling 2 sets of 3 embryos guaranteeing 1 pregnancy when transfer is done by certified embryologist. Buyer has the option to take all 6 embryos.• Here is a genetic lot from Little Mountain and Turner Farms that many should consider on sale day. J.B. selected Deer Valley Burgress out of a past Deer Valley sale. The Burgress 3675 had many friends on sale day and commanded a good price. She was selected with in mind of producing superior SimAngus. With her body type being ex-tremely high volumed and the ability to be efficient and easy keeping this mating is likely to excel. You have to chance to capitalize on this mating. Study the bottom side of the pedigree Destination, Future Direction, Focus, and New Direction 323. Several Angus greats are in her lineage. The sire of the embryos is the SVF NJC Fully Loaded owned by Greg Wyant at Twin Oaks and SVF. This baldie bull was a high seller and his first progeny look good. Study the projected EPDs, packing in calving ease and low birth weight with the marbling, API, and TI all being in the top 10% of the SimAngus. Sample this bull or better yet purchase these top notch SimAngus genetics. Just think of the outcome. If you have a bull from this mating he could be your next herd sire or be a top seller at the Cullman bull test or hope for all females to retain in your herd.

• This registered Angus heifer has already been entered into the Simmental data base for a foundation cow. She will certainly make a really nice cow. She is bred to a son of the Lot 1 donor cow LMF Sleep Easy. We wanted to sample this young bull that now resides in Jack Gilbert’s pastures, but we also wanted you to have the opportunity to see how well this mating can be.• PE: LMF Sleep Easy, ASA# 2568985 from 5-09-2012 to 7-18-2012. Observed breeding on 6-03-12. Confirmed safe in calf.
