• Folic Acid– Contributes to healthy skin cell division– Replenishes skin cells for younger, firmer looking skin

Page 8: Genetic Skin Health

• GPX1 is the most abundant antioxidant enzyme in the Glutathione Peroxidase family with specific activity against hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is produced:

– During exposure to sunlight– Stimulation of acne bacteria

• Hydrogen peroxide plays a major role in both chronological and photo-aging of skin because it is the most common source of oxidative stress

• SNP on GPX1 gene may show a reduced function in quenching hydrogen peroxide in skin cells.

• GPX1 enzyme contains selenium in its protein structure and therefore how much GPX1 a person produces is dependent on their selenium levels

• In vitro test showed upregulation of GPX1 enzyme

The Science – GPX1 SNPActive™

Test Material SNP-Related Enzyme Activity (Compared to Untreated Control)

Analysis Method

GPX1 SNPActive™ Glutathione peroxidase

GPX1 SNPActive™ provides Ingredients that protect the body against hydrogen peroxide damage

Extra selenium

Ingredients that increase glutathione peroxidase activity

Ingredients to help heal acne

Page 9: Genetic Skin Health

The Science – GPX1 SNPActive™

• N-Acetylcysteine – increases glutathione peroxidase activity and protects against UV radiation

• Amino acids Glutamine & Glycine –– antioxidants – wound-healing (acne) activity

• Plant Extracts (grape, aloe leaf and fennel) –– anti-inflammatory – antioxidant activity against hydrogen peroxide

• Saccharomyces/Selenium Ferment– Ingredient created by the fermentation of the Saccharomyces yeast with

the mineral selenium. – This anti-aging ingredient that protects against hydrogen peroxide

damage and boosts SPF – Provides added selenium to skin

Page 10: Genetic Skin Health

The Science – MMP-1 SNPActive™

• MMP-1 (collagenase) is an enzyme that degrades collagen • Collagen is the main protein of skin

– Collagen is constantly synthesized and broken down in an ongoing cycle to form new tissue.

– Collagen degradation is the major factor in aging of skin• Wrinkles• Loss of elasticity

• MMP-1 enzyme production is increased with age and exposure to sunlight• SNPs in the MMP-1 gene causes increased rates of collagenase production

leading to more collagen breakdown• In vitro test showed downregulation of MMP-1 enzyme

Test Material SNP-Related Enzyme Activity (Compared to Untreated Control)

Analysis Method

MMP1 SNPActive™ Matrix metalloproteinase

Diminished ELISA

MMP-1 SNPActive™ provides ingredients to: Strengthen collagen

collagen

• Polyglucan – helps preserve, strengthen and protect collagen

• Panthenol – Pro-Vitamin B5– Helps diminish wrinkles by infusing moisture deeper into

skin layers– Anti-inflammatory– Stimulates cell growth

Normal Skin microrelief

Page 12: Genetic Skin Health

• SOD2 gene encodes for Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), is an antioxidant enzyme which helps neutralize superoxide radicals in the skin cells, produced by:

– UV exposure– Acne bacteria

• SNPs on the SOD2 gene can lead to a damaging build-up of the superoxide radicals. • The skin's enzymatic antioxidant defense - copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (CuZnSOD),

manganese SOD (MnSOD) - have are modulated by UVB and UVA irradiation • In photo-aged skin, a significant depletion of antioxidant enzyme expression is observed

within the stratum corneum and in the epidermis

• In vitro test showed upregulation of SOD2 enzyme

• Saccharomyces (Yeast)/Manganese ferment and Copper Ferment– Antioxidant to quench superoxide radical– Promote would healing– Firms and rejuvenates the skin

Page 14: Genetic Skin Health

The Science – TNF-α SNPActive™

• Tumor Necrosis Factor- alpha (TNF-α) is a chemical messenger which mobilizes white blood cells to fight infections and other invaders.

• TNF-α has been found at elevated levels in patients with psoriasis, acne and other inflammatory skin diseases

• Toxins and UV light are potent inducers of TNF-α release from the epithelial cells that comprise skin

• SNPs on the TNF-α gene may result in an over-reactive inflammatory response and a predisposition to acne and other skin conditions

• In vitro test showed downregulation of TNF-α

Page 16: Genetic Skin Health

The Science – NQ01 SNPActive™

• The coenzyme Q10 reductase (NQO1) converts CoQ10 (ubiquinone) to its reduced form, ubiquinol, which scavenges free radicals in the mitochondria and lipid membranes.

• Individuals with a SNP in the NQO1 gene have reduced ability to make this conversion from ubiquinone to ubiquinol, resulting in very low blood and tissue levels of this key antioxidant.

• CoQ10-depleted skin tissue may be particularly more prone to the damage by free radicals because of its constant exposure environmental oxidants such as sunlight and pollution.

• Research has shown that CoQ10 may inhibit the production of epidermal cell interleukin-6, which stimulates fibroblasts in the dermis and contributes to protecting dermal fiber components from degradation, leading to rejuvenation of wrinkled skin.

NQ01 SNPActive™ provides:

Ubiquinol (Red and Yellow) Ubiquinone (Green)

Page 17: Genetic Skin Health

Clinically-proven

• LifeMap Me™ significantly out-performed the

placebo for all areas in both qualitative and

quantitative measurements

• 62% reported substantial reduction in appearance

of wrinkles after 14 days of treatment

• After 56 days the number rose to 70%

• Similarly, after 14 days, 56% reported improved

skin firmness

• After 8 weeks 70% indicated improved skin

firmness
