The genre that my magazine shall focus on is mostly the Metal genre. This will include many sub-genres involved with this genre, such as alternative metal, metal-core, tech-metal, etc. Also brought along by this genre is a specific look which, most of the time, brings about the darkness that this genre is often related to. This means that I must tailor the style of my own magazine to suit this genre, but to also keep it unique from those that already exist.

Most metal magazines (at least, those of which I have seen) generally stick to a rather hectic looking cover as this resembles the activity that goes on within the music of the genre.

The target audience of most metal-based magazines are usually both males and females aged 15+ who have an interest in this genre of music and must be able to afford the price of the magazine.

The language used in most magazines is a mix of professional and informal. This is to show both the seriousness of the genre itself and how it can also have a fun side to it.

Usually, most music magazines would often give away free items within their magazine which will tempt the audience further into purchasing the product. These free items can consist of demo tracks, posters, etc.

Considering the magazine is based on a music genre, the customer will expect there to be information regarding bands that fall into this genre inside of my magazine.
