IntroductionGeo Data Systems LimitedGeo Data Systems Limited currently operates an Two Way Interactive Multi-Media Service called “Xstream IP” suitable for use by Internet Service Providers (ISP), Application Service Providers (ASP) Corporate and Enterprise Users. However this service does not fulfill all our service requirements or market aspirations therefore we are currently in the process of developing a DVB-RCS based service in order to offer and provide two-way satellite based Multi Media Service suitable for low cost residential access called “ Xstream Broadband” operating in C-band and providing:

• high-speed Internet access,

• broadband multimedia services

• MPEG4 A/V services

The two-way satellite multimedia access network is based on

• DVB-S2 (Digital Video Broadcast over Satellite)

• This project is on going with a preliminary service launch date of Q4 2006.

• DVB-RCS(Return Channel over Satellite) standard using IP over ATM transport protocols for return-link(from Terminal to Hub)

Technical & Commercial Advantages of our Solution (USP's)

Technical• DVB S2DVB S2 – Reduces the Space segment Consumption by up to 50% on the Forward Channel.

• Turbo CodingTurbo Coding – Reduces the Space Segment Consumption by up to 50% on the Return Channel

• ADLCADLC – Adaptive Lossless Data Compression increases the Throughput by up to 50%

• cRTPcRTP - Voice Header Compression increases doubles volume of voice calls through the network

Commercial:• CUTSCUTS the cost of delivering a DVB S Service over satellite in HALF!

• CUTSCUTS the cost of the RETURN channel in HALF for two way Networks.

• DoublesDoubles the throughput of traffic for ISP’s

• DoublesDoubles the throughput of TRAFFIC for Voice Carriers such as GSM , CDMA and Copper Carriers.
