SUMMARY

Starmin Mining Inc. holds title to a group of 25 unpatented mining claims in Dent township within the Confederation Lake area of northwestern Ontario.

Gold mineralization was first discovered within the area during the early 1930's, resulting from surface exploration completed by two gold mining companies, namely Rouillard Gold Mines Ltd. and Patricia-Dent Gold Mines Ltd. Three separate areas with gold mineralization resulted from this early work, two by Rouillard which are known respectively as the Shaft Showing and the No's. 4 and 8 Showing. Patricia-Dent explored an area approximately 400 metres southwest of the Rouillard shaft showing, which is now known as the Patricia-Dent Showing. Each of the showings has historically been explored by surface trenching and pitting, shaft sinking, and limited shallow diamond drilling.

Starmin Mining Inc. commissioned A.C.A. Howe International Limited to complete a geological evaluation of both the Rouillard and Patricia-Dent shaft showings. The evaluation program consisted of the manual expansion of bedrock exposure in the areas surrounding existing trenches, detailed geological mapping and bedrock sampling in an effort to determine the geological controls for the gold mineralization previously indicated on the property.

Results of the evaluation survey suggest that gold mineralization at the Patricia-Dent shaft showing occurs as free gold associated with fracture-filling type quartz veins hosted within a quartz-eye porphyry sill, which in turn lies concordantly within pillowed mafic flows. Low- grade gold mineralization is also found to be associated with a carbonate-rich interflow horizon, which lies in contact with pillowed mafic flows to the west and a coarse-grained, epidote\magnetite-rich flow to the east.

The Rouillard shaft showing exhibits visible gold and sphalerite which is found within thin ^ 0.7 metres wide), low angle ( IT dip) quartz veins hosted within a quartz-diorite sill. The Rouillard No's 4 Se 8 showings occur as a single narrow (average 0.15 metres in width), laterally persistent quartz vein that is found to be hosted in a sheared and pervasively carbonatized mafic tuff.

The quartz veins systems for both the Rouillard and Patricia-Dent shaft areas exhibit erratic gold values ranging from trace to 0.64 ounces per ton over sample widths of 1.0 to 0.4 metres respectively. The narrow surface expression of the quartz veins, combined with the failure of the wall rocks to carry appreciable gold values suggests that the vein systems, as defined, do not warrant further exploration. The Rouillard No's 4 and 8 showings also fall within this category, as the vein exhibits narrow widths and little alteration of the enclosing wall rocks in the surface exposures evaluated during this program.

Page 4: GEOL EVALUATION OF THE DENT TWP PROP...2.1439) DENT LAKE 010 GEOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF THE DENT TOWNSHIP PROPERTY CONFEDERATION LAKE AREA ONTARIO N.T.S. 52N\2 OF STARMIN MINING INC.

The carbonate-rich interflow horizon, located in the footwall sequence of the Patricia-Dent quartz-porphyry vein zone, presents itself as a laterally persistent gold-bearing horizon which warrants further evaluation. Low grade gold values up to 0.05 ounces per ton over a core length of 6.1 metres have been obtained in diamond drilling.

The surface expression of this horizon remains unexplored along strike both to the north, and south of the shaft where shallow diamond drilling has tested the horizon over a strike length of 150 metres. Such stratabound horizons serve as important indicators of volcanic hydrothermal-exhalative activity. As it has been demonstrated that this particular horizon is anomalously rich in gold, economic concentrations should be explored for by locating possible features such as fossil vents, structurally complex areas, or facies changes into volcaniclastic sedimentary rocks.

A program of geological mapping has been recommended as a means of generating and prioritizing additional exploration targets, and as a means of tracing the strike extent of the gold-bearing carbonate horizon situated east of the Patricia-Dent shaft.

IX) INTRODUCTION

On June 25, 1991 Mr. Babu Gajaria, President, Starmin Mining Inc. ("Starmin"), Suite 1101, 10 King Street East, Toronto, Ontario, M5C 1C3 commissioned A.C.A. Howe International Limited ("Howe") to conduct a geological evaluation and prepare a report on its mining property in Dent township in the Confederation Lake area of Ontario.

The scope of this report is to document the history of the area, and discuss the recently completed work program on the property. The purpose of the report is to recommend, if warranted, and appropriate program of exploration of the property to further evaluate its economic potential.

Starmin Mining Inc. holds a WQ^o undivided interest in the 25 unpatented mining claims which comprise the Dent township property. Selected portions of the property holdings have been held by Starmin (earlier Silversides Resources Ltd.) since 1988, while the remaining claims were recently staked in an effort to expand their property holdings prior to the recent exploration program. Prior to Starmin's acquisition of the property, several periods of exploration had taken place, consisting of prospecting, trenching, underground development, geological mapping, geophysical surveying and diamond drilling. Records of this work have been well maintained in Starmin's offices, and the authors have drawn upon this complete set of information in compiling this report. In particular, reports by G.L. Holbrook, who was in charge of exploration on the property for Erie Canadian Mines Limited in 1934, J.E. Londry P.Eng., who supervised the diamond drill program in 1983 and 1984 for Devonshire Gold Resources Inc., and R. Barber who supervised Silverside's program in 1989 are all referenced in this account.

Conclusions and recommendations presented in this report are based on information gained from the above-noted sources, library research of the area geology, and upon personal knowledge of the exploration techniques employed in the region.

2.0 PROPERTY DESCRIPTION. LOCATION. ACCESS AND TOPOGRAPHY

Starmin's Dent township property is located in the northwest corner of Dent Township, which is situated in the Red Lake Mining Division. The property consists of 25 contiguous unpatented mining claims which are situated along the western shore of the North Bay of Confederation Lake. Access to Confederation Lake is gained via a well maintained secondary road which extends approximately 64 kilometres northeast from the town of Ear Falls through to the old South Bay Mine. A landing, which is maintained by the owners of the South Bay Lodge provides access to the property by boat, a distance of 6 or 7 kilometres northwestwards across Confederation Lake.

With the exception of a few prominent hills, topographic relief in the area is low, reaching a maximum variation of about 60 metres. Bedrock exposure is estimated at 1096, and drainage is good due to the close proximity of Confederation Lake and the relative low topographic variation. Overburden is thin, and consists largely of glaciolacustrine sediments, reaching a thickness of no more than 5 metres. Forest growth is a mixture of coniferous and deciduous species, largely second-growth jackpine and black spruce, with sparse white pine, birch and poplar.

3.0 PREVIOUS EXPLORATION

Previous work in the study area has included a broad spectrum of both private and public interests. Initial reconnaissance geological mapping was carried out by D.B. Dowling (1893) of the Geological Survey of Canada. Additional geological work was performed by E.M. Burwash (1920) of the Ontario Department of Mines and included geological mapping in the vicinity of Confederation Lake. Between the years of 1927 and 1929 Rouillard Gold Mines Limited ("Rouillard") performed trenching and stripping on a group of claims which now form the northcentral portion of Starmin's property (ie. Rouillard Shaft Showing). A total of nine gold showings were reportedly discovered by the company during this program.

During the period 1928-1929, Patricia-Dent Gold Mines Limited ("Patricia-Dent") completed preliminary exploration consisting largely of stripping and trenching, in an area immediately south of the Rouillard claims. This exploration effort also included the sinking of an inclined exploration shaft to a depth of 17 metres. During the same time Rouillard sunk a vertical shaft to a depth of 22 metres on a shallowly dipping quartz vein reported to contain visible gold.

During the early 1930's interest decreased in the area, and the property area lay dormant for some time. The area was included in a regional study sponsored by the Geological Survey of Canada from 1959 to 1961, with significant contributions made by Duffell et al.(1963); Priest (1963), and Donaldson and Jackson (1969). This period also included geochemistry and volcanic facies studies by various authors such as R.L. Moxham (1965), R.F. Emslie and R.H.C. Holman (1966) as well as A.M. Goodwin (1967) (Thurston, P.C., 1985).

In 1970, Sheridan Geophysics Ltd. performed ground electromagnetic surveys over the property area which was then followed by geological work in 1973 by Shilo Mines Limited ("Shilo"). Shilo conducted geological mapping and sampling which included the re-evaluation of the nine original Rouillard gold showings. A diamond drill program was recommended by Shilo's geologist, J.D. McCannell, P.Eng., but apparently not carried out. Devonshire Gold Resources Incorporated ("Devonshire") performed an induced polarization survey over much of the area presently held by Starmin, which was followed by an 11 hole diamond drill (total footage undisclosed) program in 1983 which tested the southern projection of the Patricia-Dent zone as well as several induced polarization targets. A further 3 holes were drilled in 1984, totalling 458 metres, and shortly following this the company's charter was cancelled.

P.C. Thurston (1985) published Ontario Geological Survey Report 236, which described the volcanic stratigraphy of the Confederation Lake greenstone belt. Thurston's report strongly emphasized the significant economic potential of the area.

Silverside Resources Incorporated ("Silverside") staked the Devonshire ground in January 1988, after Devonshire's charter was cancelled.

Silverside completed linecutting, ground magnetometer and induced polarization surveys over various portions of their property, which delineated several anomalous zones including one zone extending south from the area of the Rouillard showings. Silverside also re-evaluated the areas of the Rouillard and Patricia-Dent shaft areas, where channel sampling along the strike of the quartz veins yielded encouraging gold values (Deklerk, R., 1988). In 1989 Silverside completed three diamond drill holes for a combined footage of 186 metres to test the area of the Rouillard shaft and also test an induced polarization anomaly located

f northwest of the shaft area.f '

f In 1991, Silverside consolidated its share distribution, and re-named the reorganizedl company Starmin Mining Inc.

4.0 DESCRIPTION OF THE RECENT EXPLORATION PROGRAM

Starmin Mining completed this reported surface exploratory program during the period July 8 to July 29, 1991. The program consisted of prospecting, the cleaning of existing bedrock trenches in preparation of geological mapping and sampling, and detailed mapping and sampling of the mineralized zones.

Two specific areas were subjected to the exploration process, both of these areas being the site of previous surface and underground exploration (refer Figure 3). At the site of the Patricia-Dent shaft, approximately 250 square metres of bedrock was exposed in the areas surrounding the old trenches. Initially, all trees and vegetation covering the immediate trench areas was cleared by chainsaw and shovel methods, the underlying bedrock was then washed utilizing a Mark IV Wajax fire pump. This same procedure was also utilized at the site of the Rouillard shaft, where approximately 200 square metres of bedrock was exposed.

Both of the shaft sites were accurately located with respect to claim posts found in the immediate vicinity. At the Patricia-Dent site, the shaft was accurately referenced to claim post number 3 of mining claim P1056584. A reference line was then surveyed by compass and chain along the trend of the mineralized zone, which provided an accurate reference line for the detailed mapping program. A similar survey procedure was also completed in the Rouillard shaft area.

Detailed geological mapping in the Patricia-Dent and Rouillard areas commenced on July 27, 1991 at a scale of 1:200. Chip sampling of the mineralized zones in both areas was carried out with 33 samples being chipped in the Patricia-Dent area, and 39 being chipped in the Rouillard shaft area.

Prospecting in the area of the Rouilard No. 4 & 8 showings was also completed. Four representative grab samples were taken of the mineralized zone at the Rouillard No. 4 showing.

In addition to the prospecting program, drill-core from four of the holes which were completed by previous operators in 1983 and 1984 was relogged and sampled to confirm the presence of gold mineralization. A total of 24 rock core samples were submitted for gold analysis.

All rock samples collected during the exploration program were submitted for analysis to Barringer Laboratories in Red Lake, Ontario, and were assayed based on a 30 gram sample by fire assay and finished by atomic absorption. Samples assaying in excess of 2,000 ppb gold were finished gravimetrically. Samples with visible sulfide mineralization were analyzed for zinc via atomic absorption utilizing aqua regia sample digestion.

5.0 GEOLOGY

5.1 Regional Geology

Starmin's Dent township property lies within the Cycle III volcanic series of the Confederation Lake area, an area which is underlain by Archean volcanic rocks which occur in three distinct mafic to felsic cycles, collectively 8,500 to 11,240 metres thick. Each volcanic cycle commences with pillowed basalt and andesitic flows and is capped by andesitic and rhyolitic pyroclastic rocks and minor flows. The Cycle I volcanic series is believed to be entirely subaqueous as it is overlain by up to 90 metres of limestone. Cycle II is comprised of a basal pillowed basalt flows and andesitic to rhyolitic pyroclastic rocks locally overlain by 100 to 150 metres of rhyolitic tuff with intensely welded fragments. Cycle II is overlain by stromatolitic limestone and pillowed basalt flows at the base of the Cycle III volcanic series. The remainder of Cycle III consists of dacitic pyroclastic rocks, rhyolitic flows, pyroclastic rocks and coeval hypabyssal intrusions (Thurston; P.C., 1985).

5.2 Property Geology

Previous geological mapping combined with recent reconnaissance geological mapping indicates that the Dent township property is predominantly underlain by the basal formation of the Cycle III volcanic series (Thurston, P.C., 1985). This basal formation, which as a whole is 3,400 to 5,500 metres thick, is comprised of mafic flows and coarse-grained mafic intrusive rocks which form the west limb of a regional synclinorium that trends from north to south, just east of the property. A north- trending sill of granophyric granodiorite, which reaches widths of up to 500 metres underlies the eastern one-third of the property.

The mafic flows, striking north-south and dipping steeply to the east, underlie over 5096 of the property and are typically fine-grained rocks of basaltic composition. The weathered surface of the rock varies in colour from dark green to black, and is dark green to green-black on fresh surface. The formation appears to be predominantly comprised of pillowed flows of up to 60 metres in thickness, with the individual pillows exhibiting either stretched to brecciated pillow selvages, to elliptical, bun- shaped pillows with l to 4cm thick pillow selvages. Younging direction is indicated to the east. Coarse-grained flows are also readily evident within the volcanic sequence, and occur in thick flow units up to 90 metres in thickness. Typically, this unit is composed of an epidote-rich assemblage exhibiting up to 1596 tremolite- actinolite, 596 carbonate, trace amounts of chlorite and up to 5 96 porphyroblasts of fine-grained magnetite. Previous mapping efforts have recorded many of the bedrock exposures of this coarse-grained mafic flow as a gabbro, however, the intercalated, and sometimes gradational contact relationships of the coarse-grained unit with the surrounding pillow basalts suggests to the author that this unit is best classified as a mafic flow.

A.C.A. HOWE INTERNATIONAL LIMITED.

Page 13: GEOL EVALUATION OF THE DENT TWP PROP...2.1439) DENT LAKE 010 GEOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF THE DENT TOWNSHIP PROPERTY CONFEDERATION LAKE AREA ONTARIO N.T.S. 52N\2 OF STARMIN MINING INC.

Interflow units occur as thin ^5 metre), foliated horizons situated concordantly between pillowed mafic flows and/or coarse-grained magnetite-bearing mafic flows. These laterally extensive units are best exposed in the area of the Patricia-Dent shaft showing, where an interflow horizon is exposed which consists of a mixture of fine grained ash tuffs, mafic clastic sediments and fine-grained argillites. Late stage fracturing, in the form of hairline partings of the sediments are readily evident in the formation and cut the foliation at a shallow angle. These partings are marked by red, earthy hematite alteration along the fracture planes, and give the unit a distinct red coloration. Strong iron-carbonate alteration is exhibited throughout this unit.

Intermediate to felsic rocks comprise less than 396 of the property geology, and have been noted only in two locations, to the north of the Rouillard #4 showing, and 100 metres east of the Rouillard #1 shaft showing. These rocks were not observed during the latest mapping program, and were last described by J.D. McCannell in his report for Shilo Mines Limited in 1974, who recorded that the felsic units were "typical rhyolites and occur as a cherty to almost glassy type which easily breaks into small fragments. The weathered surface is usually creamy white with some gossan resulting from the oxidation of small amounts of pyrite and pyrrhotite occurring along the fracture planes". A single, concordant quartz-porphyry dike has been identified at the Patricia-Dent showing, and reaches widths of up to 3 metres within sheared pillowed mafic flows. Quartz veins occur within brittle fault zones within the unit, which is the host for the gold mineralization at the Patricia-Dent shaft showing.

The large mass of quartz-diorite which underlies the eastern portion of the property occurs as a north-striking sill which reaches widths of up to 600 metres. The unit typically weathers white-grey on its exposed surface, and green-grey on its fresh surface. The matrix of the rock exhibits a medium to coarse-grained granophyric texture, and commonly exhibits up to 396 glassy, medium grained (O mm) quartz eyes. The contacts of the intrusive, as seen in diamond drill core (hole 83-7) exhibits a diffuse contact, which is masked for the large part by intense silica flooding. Gold mineralization at the Rouillard #1 shaft showing is associated with low angle fracturing within this quartz-diorite sill.

5.3 Economic Geology

Starmin's Dent township property encompasses three gold showings, each of which has previously been subject to various amounts of surface trenching, pitting and shallow diamond drilling. Two of these showings, namely the Rouillard #1 shaft showing and the Patricia-Dent shaft showing have been evaluated in detail in Starmin's recent program, and can be described as follows:

5.3.1 Patricia-Dent Shaft Showing: is located in the western portion of mining claim 1056584. The showing consists of a quartz vein which is hosted within a quartz-eye porphyry sill, which in turn is hosted within pillowed mafic flows. The vein strikes 0150 and dips near vertically, and varies in width from 0.30 metres to 1.0 metre. The vein is controlled by brittle fracturing within the host quartz-porphyry sill, and is comprised of grey, smokey quartz which is sparsely mineralized with traces of pyrite and chalcopyrite. Vein contacts are typically sharp with minor silicification of the vein margins. Thin quartz stringers and microveinlets are evident on the western side of the vein (footwall?). The mafic flow unit exposed on the eastern side of the vein/sill, exhibits sheared pillow selvages. The pillowed flows are separated from the more coarsely-grained, epidotized flows to the east by a thin ^2 metre) wide horizon of interflow sediments and fine-grained tuffs. This distinctly reddish horizon is highly foliated and fissile, and is comprised of an intercalated sequence of argillaceous sediments, fine-grained ash tuff and mafic flow material, all of which is intensely carbonate-altered. Hematite-bearing hair-line fractures cut the unit at random orientations, giving rise to the unit's distinct reddish coloration. The interflow unit lies in contact with a fine-grained, epidotized mafic flow to the east, which then lies in contact with a thick unit of medium-grained, epidotized, magnetite-bearing flows northeast of the shaft.

A total of thirty-two rock-chip samples were obtained from the Patricia- Dent shaft area, and generally yielded low-grade gold values. Samples of the porphyry-hosted quartz vein assayed between trace gold and 0.19 ounces per ton over a sample width of 0.50 metres, obtained from a chip sample of the vein in the north face of the shaft, which was sunk to a depth of 17 metres in the 1930's. The south face of the shaft yielded a similar value for the vein material, assaying 0.13 ounces per ton gold over a vein width of 1.0 metre.

Eight of the rock samples were derived from the interflow horizon, which exhibited anomalous gold values assaying between 0.01 and 0.02 ounces per ton gold over sample widths of 0.6 to 1.0 metre.

Shaft Showing: is situated in the southeastern corner of claim #*J3^88Jr-where a gold-bearing quartz-vein has been explored via a vertical shaft which was sunk to a depth of 22 metres in the early 1930's. Starmin's recent work has exposed the surface trace of the vein structure over an intermittent strike length of 85 metres, southwards from a point 35 metres north of the shaft (Figure 6).

The mineralized zone consists of drusy, white quartz veins which strike north to north-northeast, and exhibit a variable dip from 640 to 160 W. The vein reaches true widths of up to 0.70 metres, and is mineralized with up to 296 brown sphalerite, 3*26 pyrite, trace chalcopyrite, 596 ferro-dolomite, and traces of visible gold, all usually found along the vein selvages. The quartz veins themselves are hosted within medium to coarse-grained quartz-diorite intrusive, which exhibits minor silicification at the vein margins, and pervasive iron carbonate alteration. The quartz-diorite exhibits only marginal foliation and shearing in the immediate vicinity of the vein margins.

The expansion of the outcrop exposure surrounding a trench situated 15 metres south of the Rouillard shaft exhibited a 6 metre wide zone of shearing which hosted up to 1596 thin (l to 3 cm) quartz veins. The veins strike at 1840 and dip steeply to the east at 860,are parallel to the shearing, and are again hosted within the quartz-diorite sill. The veins are well mineralized with ferro-dolomite (1096), pyrite (396), and trace chalcopyrite. A mafic sill has intruded the hanging wall contact of the shear zone, and postdates the veining episode. This unaltered and undeformed sill is light green in colour on the fresh surface, and a rusty brown on its weathered surface. Low angle quartz veins occur to the north of the mafic sill, striking at 1840 and dipping at 150 to 220 W. The veins are similar to that exposed to the north of the shaft, but are much more narrow, reaching widths of only 2 cm on average. Again the veins are well mineralized with ferro-dolomite, but do not exhibit any associated sulfide mineralization.

A total of thirty-four rock chip samples were taken from the Rouillard shaft area, with the best assays being obtained from an area between 5 and 10 metres north of the shaft, where the vein is the widest (true widths up to 0.70 metres), and is strongly mineralized with sphalerite, pyrite and exhibits trace visible gold. The quartz vein material assayed between 0.36 ounces per ton gold over a sample width of 0.30 metres, and a high of 0.64 ounces per ton over a width of 0.40 metres. Zinc values varied between a low of 260 ppm over a vein width of 0.40 metres to a high of 4900 ppm over 0.30 metres. The wall rock of the vein generally yielded assays ranging from trace gold to 0.03 ounces per ton over a sample width of 0.30 metres.

5.3.3 Rouillard #4 and #8 Showufgs: these two showings presumably lie along the same stratigraph/c-structural horizon in the south-central portion of mining claim 1058580. The #4 showing was inspected during this latest exploration program, and was found to consist of a single 0.15 metre wide quartz vein , striking 0150 and dipping at 650 W, hosted within a carbonate-altered mafic tuff unit. Vein margins are sharp, and exhibit little alteration or mineralization at their contacts. The vein has been explored over a strike length of roughly 100 metres by surface trenching and shallow diamond drilling. The #8 showing lies immediately south, and apparently on-strike with the #4 showing, its presence now only evident as a series of shallow, overgrown trenches.

A total of four grab samples were obtained from bedrock exposures in the trenches at the Rouillard #4 showing. Two grab samples of quartz vein material situated 15 and 25 metres south of an open cut, assayed 0.05 and 0.14 ounces per ton gold. Vein material obtained from the southern face of the open cut, as well as an exposure 9 metres further south assayed just trace gold in grab samples (refer Figure 3).

6.0 CONCLUSIONS

Starmin's recent evaluation of it's Dent township property has indicated that gold mineralization found at various localities on the property is associated with four separate geological environments;

i) Patricia-Dent Shaft Showing: free gold is associated with fracture-filling type quartz veins hosted within a quartz-eye porphyry sill, which lies concordantly within pillowed mafic flows. Low-grade gold mineralization is also found to be associated with a carbonate-rich interflow horizon with lies in contact with pillowed mafic flows to the west and a coarse-grained, epidote\magnetite-rich flow to the east.

ii) Rouillard Shaft Showing: visible gold and sphalerite is found within thin ^ 0.7 metres wide), low angle ( 22" dip) quartz veins hosted within a quartz-diorite sill.

iii) Rouillard No's 4 Si. 8 Showings: a narrow ( average 0.15 metres in width), laterally persistent quartz vein is found to be hosted in a sheared and pervasively carbonatized mafic tuff.

Each of the above-noted gold showings has historically been explored by surface trenching and limited shallow diamond drilling, which has indicated the following results:

6.1 Patricia-Dent Shaft Showing

Erratic gold values ranging from trace gold to a high of 0.19 ounces per ton gold over a sample width of 0.50 metres have been derived from the quartz-eye porphyry dike- hosted quartz vein within the Patricia-Dent shaft. Samples of the vein obtained just 20 metres south of the shaft failed to yield significant gold values (refer Figure 4). Diamond drilling by Devonshire in 1983 was designed to test the vein structure beneath the shaft and further to the south. Vein continuity was found to be lacking, and no significant gold intersections were derived from the porphyry-vein intercepts. However, the drilling did indicate the presence of gold mineralization within the carbonate-rich interflow horizon, which lies immediately east of the vein in the footwall sequence. Hole 83-6, drilled underneath the shaft, and designed to intercept the quartz-porphyry dike 50 metres below surface, cut the interflow horizon 90 metres below surface yielding an assay of 0.61 ounces per ton gold over a core length of 1.5 metres. The following year, Devonshire attempted to test the down-dip projection of this zone. Hole 84-3 intersected the interflow horizon 35 metres below the intersection in 83-6, cutting 12.8 metres of the unit which assayed trace gold over the width of the intersection (refer Figure 5). Devonshire also tested the southern strike extent of the zone (refer Figure 3). Hole 84-1, drilled 100 metres south of the shaft, cut the interflow horizon over a core length of 6 metres which assayed 0.05 ounces per ton gold over a sample width of 6.1 metres.

Page 28: GEOL EVALUATION OF THE DENT TWP PROP...2.1439) DENT LAKE 010 GEOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF THE DENT TOWNSHIP PROPERTY CONFEDERATION LAKE AREA ONTARIO N.T.S. 52N\2 OF STARMIN MINING INC.

20

Hole 84-2, drilled 150 metres south of the shaft also cut the horizon, assaying 0.04 ounces per ton gold over 2.4 metres (0.03 opt over 4.6 metres).

Three of these drill holes have recently been relogged and resampled, hole 83-6 by Silversides in 1988, and holes 84-1 thru 3 by Howe personnel for Starmin during the recent geological evaluation. Silversides split and sampled the entire length of hole 83-6, resplitting the gold intersection which Devonshire reported as assaying 0.62 ounces per ton gold over 1.5 metres. The best assay reported by Silversides for the interflow horizon assayed just 0.027 ounces per ton gold over a sample width of 1.5 metres. Sampling by Howe generally substantiated the values reported by Devonshire for hole 84-1, averaging 0.03 ounces per ton over a sample width of 3.0 metres. The interflow intercept for hole 84-2 was missing and therefore unavailable for resampling. Since the rock pulps are unavailable from the Devonshire samples reported for hole 83-6, it is difficult to verify the credibility of the reported results for that hole. The presence of free gold within the Patricia-Dent shaft lends to the possibility of free gold in the sample split assayed by Devonshire in 1983.

6.2 Rouillard Shaft Showing

High-grade gold samples have historically been obtained from a low angle quartz vein, striking roughly north-south and dipping at an average of 220 W. Recent chip samples across the width of vein yielded gold assays ranging between trace gold to a high of 0.64 ounces per ton gold over a sample width of 0.4 metres, and indicated the presence of associated zinc values ranging between 260 ppm to 4,900 ppm zinc. However, on surface the vein reaches a maximum width of only 0.7 metres (true), and the wall rock exhibits little associated alteration and/or mineralization. Assay results support this observation, yielding assay values of less than 0.03 ounces per ton gold over sample widths of less than 0.3 metres.

A conjugate set of vertically-dipping quartz-filled fractures lie immediately west of the low angle quartz vein exposure, with the narrow (l to 3 cm) veins exhibiting en- echelon relationships within strongly sheared quartz-diorite. The shear zone, as exposed on surface reaches an overall width of 6 metres, and yielded low grade gold values ranging from trace gold to a high of 0.03 ounces per ton gold over a sample width of 1.0 metre. This shear zone appears to postdate the set of low angle quartz- filled fractures, and has been subsequently intruded concordantly by a 1.0 metre-wide mafic sill. It is interpreted that this vertically dipping shear is related to brittle deformation along the western contact of the quartz-diorite sill. Relogging of core hole 83-7, located 40 metres southwest of the Rouillard shaft, exhibits evidence of shearing and brecciation, with intense quartz-carbonate veining within the mafic volcanic sequence, which in turn lies in contact with the quartz-diorite sill to the east. No significant gold values were obtained from this section of core.

Page 29: GEOL EVALUATION OF THE DENT TWP PROP...2.1439) DENT LAKE 010 GEOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF THE DENT TOWNSHIP PROPERTY CONFEDERATION LAKE AREA ONTARIO N.T.S. 52N\2 OF STARMIN MINING INC.

216.3 Rouillard No's 4 Se 8 Showings

The vein exposed at the Rouillard #4 showing yielded gold values of 0.05 and 0.14 ounces per ton in two separate grab samples which were obtained along the strike extent of the vein. The vein itself appears on surface to be very narrow (0.15 metres on average), with little associated alteration and/or mineralization of the enclosing mafic tuff unit evident. The narrow width of the vein, along with the erratic nature of the gold mineralization along strike indicates little in the way of exploration potential for this showing.

The Rouillard #8 showing lies along strike to the south of the Rouillard #4 vein, and was not evaluated during this reported exploration program.

LO RECOMMENDATIONS

It is recommended that a program of geological mapping be completed at a scale of 1:2,000 over the entire property to determine the geological relationships between each of the areas with indicated gold mineralization. Of particular interest is the area of the Patricia-Dent shaft, where gold mineralization has been found to be associated with a laterally persistent carbonate-rich, interflow horizon. A lithogeochemical survey and/or a soil geochemical survey may assist in the generation and prioritization of various targets for further exploration.

All of which is respectfully submitted for review.
