Duration

1. Pass SPM/ SPMV with at least three (3) credits; OR2. Pass O-level with at least Grade C in three (3) subjects; OR3. Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least Grade B in three (3) subjects; OR 4. Pass STPM or equivalent with at least Grade B in three (3) subjects; OR5. Pass STAM rank “Maqbul”; OR6. Obtained Certificate (MQF level 3) in the relevan field of Higher Education (PPT) which is recognized by Malaysian Government with 2.00 minimum CGPA; OR7. Obtained Certificate in Vocational/ Technical/ Community College Certificate/ Sijil Kemahiran (SKM level 3) in related field AND Pass SPM with at least one (1) credit; OR8. Any equivalent qualification recognize by Malaysian Government.

Diploma in Biotechnology is designed to produce human resources that are capable to apply their knowledge and skills in the fields of Biotechnology such as molecular, environment, bioprocess, agricultural and pharmaceutical. It is also suitable for those whose love nature and want to transform natural resources into beneficial products.

Students will be exposed to practical knowledge in handling equipment, safety in laboratories, preparing media, basic skills in laboratories, molecular, and environmental.

This is a 3-year program with one semester of industrial training. Students will be placed in suitable industries internship to gain knowledge and experience as part of their preparation to work in the Biotechnology field.

Apart from learning the subjects related to Biotechnology, students will also be able to develop their soft skills through presentation, co-curricular activities and entrepreneurship program.

1. Pass SPTM with at least Pass in two (2) subjects with at 2.00 minimum CGPA; OR2. Pass STAM rank “Jayyid”; OR3. Pass GCE A- level with at least Pass in two (2) subjects; OR4. Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least Grade B in five (5) subjects; OR 5. Pass Foundation in the relevan field of Higher Education (PPT) which is recognized by Malaysia Government with 2.00 minimum CGPA; OR6. Pass Matriculation in the relevan field recognized by Malaysian Government with 2.00 minimum CGPA; OR7. Pass Diploma (MQF level 4) in the relevan field with 2.50 minimum CGPA; OR8. Any equivalent qualification recognize by Malaysian Government.

Biotechnology is the study of how living organisms or parts of organisms can be used to improve, modify, or produce products or processes for specific uses such as medicine and drugs. There are several areas of application for Biotechnology such as Fermentation Technology, Enzyme Engineering, Environmental Technology, and Genetic Engineering.

By enrolling into the Degree in Biotechnology (Hons.) program, students will be exposed to the fundamental knowledge and principles in Biotechnology, and they will be able to develop a strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Moreover, the student’s skills and understanding of biotechnology processes can be further developed through a series of planned practical skill based activities and the needed soft skills in real-life situations as individuals.
