Compass - an instrument for determining directions, as by means of a freely rotating magnetized needle that indicates magnetic north.
MIDPOINT- A POINT AT OR NEAR THE MIDDLE OF, OR EQUIDISTANT FROM, BOTH ENDS, AS OF A LINE: THE MIDPOINT OF A BOUNDARY.
Parallel- (of straight lines) lying in the same plane but never meeting no matter how far extended. (of planes) having common perpendiculars.
Right Angle- the angle formed by two radii of a circle that are drawn to the extremities of an arc equal to one quarter of the circle; the angle formed by two
perpendicular lines that intersect; an angle of 90°.
Coplanar - being or operating in the same plane.
Pythagorean Theorem - the theorem that the square of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.
COLLINEAR - LYING IN THE SAME STRAIGHT LINE.
Congruent - that two or more things are the exact same size and shape.
Skew- Neither parallel nor intersecting. Used of straight lines in space.
Perpendicular - an upright position
Distance Formula - The distance d between the points (x1, y1) and
(x 2, y2)
Acute Angle - An angle whose measure is between 0° and 90°
Obtuse Angle - an angle greater than 90° but less than 180°.
Protractor - an instrument having a graduated arc for
plotting or measuring angles.
Endpoint - the point on each side of an interval marking its extremity on that side.
Non-Coplanar - that they do not belong to the same plane
Non-Collinear - that they do not belong to the same line
Line - a continuous extent of length
Ray - one of a system of straight lines emanating from a point.
Angle - the space within two lines or three or more planes diverging from a common point, or within two planes diverging from a common line.
Length of a segment - A straight line which links two points without extending beyond them.
