James is too well known to the voters of his ward to need an introduction at our hands, but we wish to say a few words relative to his record as a mem- b&r of the police jury the past three years. "Frank" has always stood for every progressive movement that has beer, brought before the body of police members. Long as a andidate for member of police ury from ward 6. Mr. Long is a progressive farmer of that section, and is held in high esteem by his fellow citizens. He is competent to fill the position to which he aspires and if elected, will doubtless serve his people to their satis- faction. We commend his candi- dacy co a favorable consideration of the voters of the sixth ward, Dr. S. G. Hines. In this weeks issue appear the formal announcement of Dr S. G. Hine as a candidate fo member of the police jury ti represent this, the 4th ward of Caldwell parish, subject to the action of the democratic party at the primary election to be held on January, 25, next. The office to which he aspires is one of the most important in the gift of his people. The pol- ice jury has the expenditure of many thousand dollars, besides the duty of reviewing assess- ments and passing much needed legislation, and the voters should look well to the selection of thier representative. Dr. Hines is thoroughly quali- fied to fill this responsible office, ihe his not only been a success- jful -practitioner of his chosen profeesioi; but a successful busi- u an as well fle is popular ~ng his people and has iaways -eoa for the advancement of the agricultdral, educational and nmoral development of this parish and if elected to the office of pol. ice jury. will doubtless fill it with honor to himself and satisfaction to his constituents. We cheer- fully commend his candidacy to to your favorable consideration. AN S. J.
