GEP English Exam is a line of leveled English proficiency exams designed strictly under the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages. While other tests of English language proficien-cy are later adaptations, all GEP English exams at www.itestenglish.com were built from scratch under the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
This means that the results of the tests obtained by students taking an English GEP English Exams test have the highest level of reliability in the measurement of skills in accordance with the rigorous standards established by the international standards mentioned later in this document, and the standards establi-shed by the Common European Framework of Reference - CEFR.
The proficiency levels are measured against realistic situations in everyday life, with the appropriate voca-bulary, structure and language at all levels. The tests are based on familiar topics and focus on the skills necessary to communicate effectively in English.

Since all GEP exams were developed from the ground up following the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, there is a one-to-one correlation between CEFR and GEP levels.
Since standardization requires work with descriptors of minimum competency levels, which reflect what a minimally competent candidate can do within each established competence level, these descriptors were selected and it was concluded that the elaborated items reflected an adequate level of minimum competence against these established descriptors.

GEP Dolphins Exam initiates the testing sequence for young candidates at the Pre-A1-1 Level. Students at this level have approximately 6 months to 1 year of formal and informal training in the English language. The exam is designed to motivate and introduce the child into the testing environment with a low degree of difficulty.

Both GEP A1 English Exam and GEP YL (Young Learners) A1 English Exam evaluate assesses the learner’s ability to interact in a simple way, ask and answer simple questions about themselves, where they live, people they know, and things they have. The GEP A1 exam also assesses a student’s capacity to initiate and respond to simple statements in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.

GEP B1 English Exam assesses the student’s ability to maintain interactions with speakers and getting across what they want in various scenarios, following the main points of extended discussions around them and expressing their main ideas comprehensively. GEP B2 English Exam assesses the capacity of the students to understand standard spoken language on both familiar and unfamiliar topics normally encountered in personal, social, academic or vocational life. It also probes the ability of the student to understand the main ideas of linguistically complex speech on both concrete and abstract topic as well as follow extended speech and complex lines of argument.

GEP C1 English Exam assesses the students’ ability to understand and follow extended speech on abstract or complex topics as well as recognize a wide range of idiomatic expressions and colloquialisms. Students who successfully pass the exam can follow extended speech even when it is not clearly structured and when relationships are only implied and not signaled explicitly.
PRE A1-2 BEARS
GEP Bears Exam continues the testing sequence for young candidates at the Pre-A1-2 level. Students at this level have approximately 1-2 years of formal and informal training in the English language. The Bears Exam further tests the candidate’s ability to identify and describe familiar people, places, activities, and objects in the present tense.

PRE A1-3 LIONS
GEP Lions Exam is the last stepping stone in the testing sequence for young candidates at the Pre-A1-3 level. Students at this level typically have approximately 2-3 years of formal and informal training in the English language. The Lions Exam further tests the candidate’s ability to identify and describe familiar people, places, activities and objects in the present tense.

GEP English exams are designed for academic institutions, companies or language centers that wish to test proficiency level of their students at every step of their English language learning pro-cess.
The intended candidates are children and young learners usually in primary, secondary or universi-ty, and / or adults who use English as a second lan-guage or as a foreign language as part of their stu-dies to develop their skills and improve their knowledge of a wide range of thematic areas.
Candidates, at the most basic levels of the test (Pre-A1), would generally be children in primary school who will take the Pre-A1 as part of their preparation to advance to a higher level of English study within their acquisition process. At the basic, intermediate and high levels (A1 - C1) the candidates are young people or adults who are required to demonstrate their levels of profi-ciency in the English language within their educa-tional or professional context.
GEP English Exams are deployed online through our testing platform and, therefore, are implemented quickly at any authorized testing center.
Several versions of each component are available for live deployment at any time. All versions are created with the same rigorous specifications and are subject to the same standardized quality assurance and analysis proce-dures to ensure reliability both during deployment and during the marking and delivery of results.
DEPLOYMENT
GEP English Exams are acquired by our authorized distributors, and they in turn, offer exams to institutions orindividuals. The schedules and locations for the administration of the tests to the candidates are decided by the testing center or educational entity where their application is authorized.Global Language Training provides detailed guides that clearly describe all aspects of test administration, fromseating arrangements to the technical requirements such as microphones and speakers needed to deploy speaking and listening tests.
MANAGEMENTAND SAFETY
SCORING
To keep children motivated throughout the testing process the GEP Pre A1 exams were designed with no pass nor fail. Test results are reported using badges for each section, Language Use, Reading, and Listening. The certificate shows how many badges the child has received for each section, with a maximum of five badges for each paper and 15 badges in total. A test result of one (1) badge indicates that a child can improve a lot in that skill. A test result of five (5) badges means that a child did very well in that skill and answered most questions correctly.
PRE-A1 ENGLISH EXAMS
The Listening, Reading and Language Use components, are graded within our testing platform. The system automatically grades over 100 points based on the number of correct questions per section. Human examiners trained and accre-dited by Global Language Training, qualify the speaking and writing components. The score over 100 is determined by following the following rubrics designed from the performan-ce standards for each level of the CEFR.

GEP English Exams are deployed online through our testing platform and, therefore, they are implemented quickly. There is no minimum of exams to be bought and the testing centers decide when to apply the exam. GEP Exam results are valid for life. They do not expire after a couple of years.
NO EXPIRATION DATE
Once the exam has been completed, the results are processed and sent to the authorized testing center where the candidate took the test, via email in PDF format within the next five to ten business days from the date of the application of the test.
