GERING PUBLIC SCHOOLS - HOME OF THE BULLDOGS

Gering Public Schools is located in western Nebraska at the foot of Oregon Trail landmark Scotts Bluff National Monument with the scenic Wildcat Hills as a backdrop. The district consists of a Preschool, three elementary schools, Junior High School, and a High School which includes a Freshman Academy.

The primary goal of the school district is to increase student achievement and provide a high quality education for “All students”. The district plans to accomplish this goal by implementing curriculum and programs that are designed well and support the standards, investing in high quality and ongoing professional development for our staff, and measuring student performance with valid and reliable assessments and utilizing this data to make needed changes.

Outdoor enthusiasts of every ability can appreciate the challenge and beauty of the community with convenient access to Lake Minatare camping and recreation, fishing and designated public land hunting. Each fall, Old West Balloon fest draws in tourists from across the country, and the region is presently host to the National Hot Air Balloon Championships through 2022. You will find great food, interesting shops, and unique attractions not just in Gering, but throughout the region.
