Get involved with

Wellbeing Week and

discover how simple things

like reading a book or taking

more exercise can promote

positive mental health and

make you happier and

healthier in 2016.

Activities taking place throughout the week...Take a selfie and pledge your support

It’s time to talk about mental health and challenge outdated stereotypes and stigmas associated

with mental illness. In February 2014, LJMU and LiverpoolSU signed the Time to Change Pledge

to demonstrate our dedication to ending stigma around mental health and our continued

commitment to provide an environment that is ‘fair, supportive and encouraging’. So why not take

a selfie and pledge your support to help raise awareness of the challenges that students and staff

can face while they are university and the impact that these can have on their mental health.

Pledge your support now! #UniMentalHealthDay Tag us @ljmusaw

5 ways to wellbeing at LJMUUniversity life is a busy life - balancing work, study and social activities can be a challenge…

To have a happier and healthier University experience, try these five simple ways to improve

your personal wellbeing by making small, achievable lifestyle changes.

1. ConnectWith the people around you. With family, friends, housemates and neighbours. At home,

work, on your course or in your local community. If you are living away from home for the

first time, building these connections will be a wonderful support for you.

2. Be active Sitting all day at a computer screen is a bit rubbish really. Change the scene by stepping

outside, go for a walk or a run, cycle, dance… then dance some more. Exercise makes you

feel good. Why not register for FREE off-peak LJMU Lifestyles Gym Membership:

ljmu.ac.uk/discover/your-student-experience/student-opportunities

3. Take noticeIt’s easy to get immersed in University life, so try and make time to take in the world around

you. Liverpool is a wonderful place - so be curious. Catch sight of the beautiful. Remark on

the unusual. Check out the offers available via Student Opportunities:

@LJMUStudentOpps

4. Keep learning This is a big part of University life right? Try something new that will develop you personally

as well as professionally. Rediscover an old interest, join a club, join the LJMU Community

Choir, cook something different, have a new cultural experience.

5. Give Do something nice for a friend, or a stranger. Thank someone. Smile. Share your time. LJMU

has a great volunteer scheme for students, so get involved: ljmu.ac.uk/volunteering
