Coming up at Gethsemane Church & School SAVE THE DATE! The 8

th Annual

Gator Classic golf Tournament will be November 9

th. Gather your family,

friends & co-workers & invite them to attend the Gator Classic Tournament in support of Gethsemane Lutheran School Athletics.

This week marks the end of the First Quarter. It’s hard to believe the school year is going so quickly. Softball and Flagg Football has come to an end and Soccer and Volley Ball will be starting up. Archery Club will begin meeting on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:00pm and that means the Archery Fun Shoots will be starting as well. Watch for the exciting things that will be going on at the school during the second quarter. . . GLC is an Exciting Place To Be!

DO SOMETHING is our Servant Theme this year and our graders are going creative on how they can serve the community and make a difference.

First Grade will be creating cards to cheer up and encourage people.

Second Grade will be filling individual bags with rice and beans for the TCAA Tempe Community Action Agency Food Bank.

Third Grade will be doing Chores for Charity. The students have been earning money at home doing chores and this coming week they will be going grocery shopping and then donating the items to a local food bank.

Fourth Grade will be donating arts & crafts items, puzzles and sensory equipment to The ARC of Tempe. This is a place where they strive to empower and enrich the lives of persons with developmental disabilities by teaching self-advocacy, life skills and civic involvement through hands-on learning and recreational activities. The class will also have the opportunity to spend time interacting with the clients at the ARC.

Fifth thru Eighth Grades along with students from Valley Christian High School, will be volunteering at Feed My Starving Children.

All of the students are also donating pencils for the Pencil Project we will be doing on Saturday Oct. 4th. We need as many pencils and pencil sharpeners as we can collect! Pencils can be delivered to the Church or School Office thru Friday October 3rd.

Mrs. Rogers & the 3 year old cuties.

FALL SUNDAY SCHOOL!

Our Sunday School Small Groups

had a great month is September as

our big kids learned all about

“Responsibility” and our little ones

learned that “God’s Got It!”

As we gear up for October, here’s

what we have in store:

• We will kick off our Sunday-

School-wide Service Project!

Stay tuned for what the children

voted to work toward!

• Preschool October theme: “Big

Things”

• K-5 October Theme: “Blank

Page: Creativity”

As always, we would love to expand

our Sunday Morning Sunday School

team. If you’ve been wondering if our

Sunday Morning goings-on would be

a good fit for you, please contact April

Lehman [email protected] or

grab me on Sunday morning for a

chat. There is always the open-

invitation to come and observe what

we do before jumping in.
