• 17 In the Lord’s name, then, I warn you: do not continue to live like theheathen, whose thoughts are worthless 18and whose minds are in the dark. They have no part in the life that God gives, for they are completelyignorant and stubborn. 19They have lost all feeling of shame; they givethemselves over to vice and do all sorts of indecent things without restraint.
•• 20 That was not what you learnt about Christ! 21You certainly heard about
him, and as his followers you were taught the truth that is in Jesus. 22So getrid of your old self, which made you live as you used to—the old self thatwas being destroyed by its deceitful desires. 23Your hearts and minds mustbe made completely new, 24and you must put on the new self, which iscreated in God’s likeness and reveals itself in the true life that is upright andholy. • Heb 12:1-3 (GW)• Since we are surrounded by so many examples [of faith], we must get
rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us.We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up. Wemust focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith. He saw the joyahead of him, so he endured death on the cross and ignored thedisgrace it brought him. Then he received the highest position inheaven, the one next to the throne of God. Think about Jesus, whoendured opposition from sinners, so that you don't become tired andgive up.
