Etiquette for Cell Phone Use

■ The cell phone always emits weak radio waves when power is on.■ Use the cell phone in an enjoyable and safe manner without forgetting to

be considerate of others around you.

●The use of cell phones is not allowed in some places・Do not use the cell phone

while you are driving. Doing so is both dangerous and prohibited by law.・Using a cell phone in an

aircraft is prohibited by law. Be sure to turn the cell phone off.

●Radio waves from cell phones may interfere with medical electrical equipment・Some people close to you in

busy places such as crowded trains may be using a pace-maker. Turn the cell phone off in such places.・Abide by the rules of hospitals

and other medical institutions where it is forbidden to use or carry cell phones.

●Be considerate of where you use the cell phone and how loudly you talk・Do not make calls from cinemas,

theaters, museums, libraries, and other similar places. Turn power off or turn on manner mode to prevent others around you from being inconvenienced by ring tones for incoming calls or mail.

・Do not use the cell phone in places where you will be in the way of others.・Move to areas where you will

not inconvenience others on trains or in hotel lobbies.・Take care to avoid talking in a

loud voice.

・Obtain the permission of other people before you take their photos with the cell phone's camera. ・Do not use the cell phone's

camera for recording information in bookstores and other locations where taking photos is not permitted.

Normally, you should leave the cell phone turned on

Hold down for at least one second.

If a signal is not being received, you cannot talk on the cell phone

Even in service areas, there are some places where it is difficult to receive a signal.

Pay attention to the battery level

indicates the battery level.

When the battery level is low, the cell phone may not function properly.

To make and receive calls, you need to turn on power.

Manner Mode

You can use manner mode to turn off the incoming call ring tone and other tones so as not to inconvenience other people.

When the standby screen is displayed, hold down (side key 2) for at least one second.

Voice Memo

When you cannot answer calls, the cell phone can play an answering message (Japanese) and record memos.

Drive Mode

In Drive Mode, a Japanese message meaning "I'm driving now, so I can't answer your call." is played when a call is received, and the cell phone uses voice memo to record a message.

Holding a cell phone, talking on a cell phone, looking at a cell phone display to send mail or perform some other operation while driving is against the law in Japan.(Revised Traffic Control Law, effective November 1, 2004)

Turn off your cell phone or put it in Drive Mode while driving.

You can set the mail filters to reject only specific mail or mail indicated by 未承諾広告※ (Unsolicited Advertisement), which often tends to be spam. The following mail filters are available for rejecting spam: ・未承諾広告フィルター (Unsolicited Advertisement Filter) ・アドレスフィルター (Address Filters)  ー指定拒否設定   (for not receiving specific mail)  ー指定受信設定   (for receiving specific mail only)

If you receive a call from an unknown phone number:

in the Incoming History indicates that there was a call which rang three seconds long or shorter.

When a big scale disaster occurs, you can register your safety information through EZweb. The registered safety information can be referred from anywhere in Japan through EZweb or Internet.

●When a big scale disaster occurs, from au phone, you can register your safety information such as your condition or comments to the 災害用伝言板 (Disaster Bulletin Board) created on the EZweb.

●After the registration of your safety information, you can notify by e-mail your family or acquaintances you have previously designated that you registered your safety information on the 災害用伝言板 (Disaster Bulletin Board).

●You can refer to the safety information of the person you want to know the information of by entering the phone number of the person from EZweb or Internet.**When you refer to the safety information from other carriers' cellphone (except for TU-KA), PHS or PC, you can refer to it from "http://dengon.ezweb.ne.jp/".

1 When the standby screen is

displayed, use 0 to 9 to

enter the phone number you

want to call.

・When calling to a regular phone, you also need to enter the area code even inthe same area.

1 When the standby screen is

displayed, press D.

・Pressing C while the standby screenis displayed displays the OutgoingHistory screen. ・The phone numbers are displayed in order of the most

recent to the oldest.

2 Use G to select the phone

number you want to call and

then press @ (Info).

・If you press J (→OutH), the OutgoingHistory screen will be displayed.

3 Press @ (Call) or Q.

・The cell phone can store up to 20 phone numbers in each of the incoming historyand outgoing history in order of the most to least recent.

What is a One-ring Call?

A one-ring call is a call from an unknown caller that only rings once, causingit to be stored in the incoming history. One-ring calls are often used to getthe receiver to return the call, which will connect you to a dating service orsome other service that charges caller at high rates.

One-ring Indicator

indicator on the display indicates you have received a one-ring call (a callrang for three seconds or shorter) and the call is marked with on theincoming history screen. Be careful when you return a call to an unknowncaller.

The cell phone informs you of a call by vibrating.

1 When the standby screen is

displayed, hold down T (side

key 2) for at least one second.

aThis turns on manner mode, anddisplays and on the standbyscreen. This also turns on voice memo,which is indicated by on the standbyscreen.

Turning Off Manner Mode When the standby screen is displayed, hold down T (side key 2) for at least onesecond.

aTurning off manner mode causes and to disappear from the standbyscreen. Voice memo is also turned off, which is indicated by disappearingfrom the standby screen.

なりすまし規制

This setting lets you reject messages that appear to come from cellphones or PHS phones, but actually do not. You can use なりすまし規制 (Block Impostor) in combination with 全受信 (Receive All), 指定受信設定 (Receive Specific Mail Only), and 指定拒否設定 (Reject Specific Mail)settings. If you select the 規制する (Restrict) option while 全受信(Receive All) is selected, for example, only messages made to appearlike they come from cell phones or PHS phones, when they do not, arerejected.

C-mail Safe Block Function

C-mail safe block function is a function that allows you to reject to receive c-mails that include accessing URL (http://△△△, https//△△△) or phonenumbers in the c-mail message text.C-mail safe block function is valid by default. You can cancel the setting ifyou want to receive c-mails that include accessing URL or phone numbers inthe message text.

A message is sent to a phonenumber.Example: 0900001XXXX

C-mail is a service that makes it possible to exchange messages betweentwo au cell phones that support c-mail. A c-mail message can contain up to50 double-byte (or 100 single-byte) characters. Subscribers in the Kanto and Chubu areas do not need a separatesubscription to use c-mail. For subscribers located outside of these areas, aseparate subscription is required.

To Watch EZ Television ClearlyWhen you watch TV in the mountain, underground mall, or tunnel, the imageand tone may be degraded or the wave cannot be received due to the badcondition.In this case, do one of the following:・When you use the Toshiba flat-type stereo earphone 02 or External TV

antenna with a clip, fully extend the cord or the antenna and search thedirection for better reception.・When you watch EZ Television indoors, watch TV near the window

because the wave comes outdoors.

When you use EZ Television, you are recommended to connect the antenna.You can enjoy EZ Television in higher image and sound quality. You canconnect one of the following antennas to A5511T:

・The movie images are saved in the EZ Movie Folder of the Data Folder and the stillimages are saved in the Graphic of the Data Folder.

・You may not record data if sufficient space is not available in the Data Folder.・The recordable time reduces due to the available space in the Data Folder. When

the maximum space (approximate 18 MB) is available, you can record data forapproximate 17 minutes.

・The following shows how to read the file name in the Data Folder when you recorda movie or still image.

・EZ Television can search the TV program by Electric TV Guide or check the songtitle on air (Song title search: fee-based service).

・The programs saved as the still images or movies are copyright-protected. Youcannot attach these files to e-mail nor copy/move them onto external devices. Youcannot also register them in the standby screen.

Creating and Sending E-mail/C-mail Messages in Smart Mode

You can specify the actual song of a particular artist as an incoming ringtone.

Movie SettingYou can specify a movie you recorded as an incoming ring tone orincoming screen.

Edit MovieYou can add subtitles (two lines of 10 characters each) and record avoiceover after recording a movie.

EZapps (BREW®)You can enjoy using various applications including large-volume gamesthat are rich in expressive content, and standby applications.

Photo MixerYou can use an animation template with melody to create your ownoriginal animation from a mixture of photos and text. You can attachanimations to e-mail messages.

Voice RecorderYou can record voice memos while the cell phone is in standby.This feature comes in handy for recording during a meeting of seven oreight people, when having a discussion with few people, etc.
