Audio Systems

AM-FM Stereo with Cassette TapePlayer, and CD Player with AutomaticTone Control (if equipped)Radio ControlsPWR: Press this knob to turn the radioon or off. Turn the knob to the left todecrease volume. Turn it to the right toincrease volume.BAND: Press this button to select AM,FM1 or FM2, or XM Radio.TUNE: Turn this knob to choose radiostations.SEEK: Press the left or right arrow to goto the next higher or lower station. Pressa SEEK arrow for two seconds; SCANwill appear in the display. Use SCAN tolisten to stations for a few seconds.Press and hold one of the SEEK arrowsfor more than four seconds to listen toeach of your preset stations for a fewseconds. Press an arrow again to stopscanning.EQ: Press this button to choose bassand treble equalization settings for different program types.AUDIO: Push and release this buttonuntil BASS, MID or TREBLE appears onthe display. Then turn the Audio knob toincrease or decrease.Also, use this button to adjust the bal-ance and fade between the speakers.

Radio Data System (RDS) FeaturesTRAF: Press this button to receive traf-fic announcements. TRAF will appear onthe display and when a traffic announce-ment comes on, you will hear it.INFO: If the current station has a message, press this button to view themessage.P-TYP: Press this button to find thedesired program type. Then, find a cate-gory by turning the AUDIO knob. Presseither SEEK arrow to select a categoryand take you to the category’s first station.ALERT!: Alert warns of local or nationalemergencies. You will hear theannouncement, even if the volume ismuted or a cassette tape or compactdisc is playing. You will not be able toturn off Alert announcements.

Numbered ButtonsThe six numbered buttons let you set upto six AM and 12 FM stations (six FM1stations and six FM2 stations).To set a station:• Turn the radio on. • Select the band. • Tune in the desired station.• Press and hold one of the six

numbered buttons until you hear one beep; then release the button.

• The station is now preset.

The tape will begin to play.BAND: Press this button to listen to theradio when a cassette or CD is playing.CD TAPE: Press this button to play acassette tape or a CD when listening tothe radio.6 SIDE: Pressing this button changesthe side of the tape.1 : Press this button to reverse thetape rapidly. Press it again to return toplaying speed.2 : Press this button to quicklyadvance to another part of the tape.Press the button again to resume play-ing the tape.

: Press this button to search forthe next or previous selection on thetape.

: Pressing this button removes thetape.Setting the ClockH: Press and hold this button until thecorrect hour appears.M: Press and hold this button until thecorrect minute appears.

AM-FM Stereo with CDCD Player ControlsWith the radio on, insert the CD partwayinto the slot with the label side up. Theplayer will pull the CD in and begin toplay.DISP: Press this button to see whichtrack is playing. Press it again within fiveseconds to see how long the track hasbeen playing. To change the display(track or elapsed time), press DISP toselect the display you want and hold thebutton until the display flashes.4 RDM: Press this button to hear tracksin random order. Press it again to stop.1 : Press and hold this button toquickly reverse within a track.2 : Press and hold this button toquickly advance within a track.

: Press the right arrow to go tothe next track. Press the left arrow to goto the start of the current track. BAND: Press this button to change tothe radio while a CD is playing.

: Press this button to remove thedisc.CD: Press this button to play a CD whilelistening to the radio.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Climate ControlsDual Automatic ComforTemp ClimateControl

AUTO: Press this button to make thesystem automatically adjust to changesin temperature inside the vehicle.TEMP: Press this button’s up or downarrow to increase or decrease the interi-or temperature.FAN: Press this button’s up or downarrow to increase or decrease blowerfan speed.AIR FLOW: Press this button’s up ordown arrow to select airflow direction tothe FLOOR, MID-FLOOR, MID andWINDSHIELD-FLOOR.DisplayThe display indicates the outside tem-perature, your interior temperature set-ting selection, current airflow directionsettings and fan speed.VENT: Press this button to allow outsideair to flow through the vehicle. Press thebutton again to turn the vent off.FRONT: Press this button to defrost thewindshield.REAR: Press this button to defog therear window. At speeds above 30 mph(48 km/h), the defogger will stay on untilyou press the button again. At speedsbelow 30 mph (48 km/h), the defoggerwill turn off automatically.

RECIRC: Press this button to limit theamount of outside air entering the vehicle.OFF: Press this button once to turn offthe passenger comfort control system.Press the button twice to turn off themain system.Personal Choice Comfort Controls (if equipped)This feature allows two different driversto recall their own climate control settings.The settings that are recalled are thelast choices of the driver prior to exitingthe vehicle, and are recalled by pressingthe key fob/transmitter unlock button orby pressing one of the memory buttonson the driver’s door panel.Passenger Climate Control

The controls for this feature are locatedon the passenger’s door armrest. Pressthe red arrow to raise the inside temperature on the passenger side.Press the blue arrow to decrease theinterior air temperature on the passenger side. You can adjust the temperature up to 5˚F cooler or warmerthan the driver’s setting.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Power Seat Controls

Adjust Seat Height and CushionPositionPush the horizontal control forward orrearward to move the entire seat forwardor rearward. Move the entire horizontalcontrol up or down to move the entireseat up or down. Move the front of thehorizontal control up or down to adjustthe front portion of the seat cushion upor down. Move the rear of the horizontalcontrol up or down to adjust the rearportion of the seat cushion up or down.Reclining Front Seatbacks (if equipped)Move the vertical control forward or rear-ward to move the seatback forward orrearward.4-Way Power Lumbar Control (if equipped)Press the power lumbar control forwardor rearward to increase or decreasesupport. Press the control up or down tomove the lumbar support up or down.See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

Heated Seats (if equipped)

The HEATED SEAT buttons are locatedon the driver’s and front passenger’sdoor panels. Press the button to turn theheated seat to the HIGH setting. Thebutton will illuminate. Press again toselect the LO setting.Pressing the button again turns theheated seat off.See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

Power Door Locks

Press UNLOCK or LOCK on the doorswitch to unlock or lock all of the doors.Rear Door Child Security Locks

To prevent opening a rear door fromthe inside:• Open one of the rear doors. Move the

lever on the side of the door all theway up to the lock symbol.

• Close the door.• Repeat for the other door.To open a rear door when the childsecurity lock is on:Unlock the door from the inside andopen the door from the outside.

Mirrors

Outside RearviewYour vehicle’s power mirror controls arelocated on the driver’s door armrest. Tooperate the left or right mirror, press L orR on the selector switch located belowthe control pad. If the switch is placed inthe center position, no mirror movementwill occur. To adjust the mirror position, press thearrows located on the control pad.Inside Rearview Electrochromic Day/Night RearviewMirror with Compass (if equipped).

Press the button to turn the automaticdimming feature and compass on/off.A light will illuminate when the dimmingfeature is on.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Door Locks and Child Security To cancel the security feature:• Open the door from the outside and

move the lever all the way down.• Repeat for the other door.Child RestraintsYour vehicle has top strap anchorsinstalled behind the rear seatback tosecure child safety seats.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Window Controls

The power window controls are locatedon the driver’s door armrest.Express-Down WindowAUTO: Press this switch rearward andrelease to express open the window.Press the switch again to stop a windowin express.

Window LockoutLOCK: Press this switch to disable thepassenger window switches. The switchwill illuminate to indicate the lock isactive.Press the switch again to enable thepassenger window switches.Window Lockout is a programmable fea-ture. Refer to the DIC Programming sec-tion in this guide for further information.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Sunroof (if equipped)The ignition must be in the ON positionor the Retained Accessory Power (RAP)must be active to operate the sunroof.

The sunroof switch is located on theheadliner, between the sun visors.Press and hold the switch rearward andrelease to express open the glass paneland sunshade. The sunroof will openautomatically to the full-open position.Press the switch again at the desiredpoint to stop the panel in a partially openposition.Press and hold the switch forward toclose the glass panel. The sunshademust be manually closed.VentThe vent position raises the rear portionof the sunroof. Once it is closed, thesunroof can be opened to a vent posi-tion. (The sunshade must be openedand closed manually for vent operation.)Push the sunroof switch upward to vent.Pull the sunroof switch downward toclose.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Turn Signal /Multifunction LeverWindshield Wiper ControlsMISTTurn the WIPER band toward you andrelease it for a single wipe cycle. Formore cycles, hold the band on MISTlonger.WASHPush the washer PUSH tab to spraywasher solvent on the windshield.

The headlamps, parking and backuplamps will illuminate when you press theunlock symbol ( ) on the keyfob transmitter.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Lamp Controls

Interior LampsSee Section 3 of your Owner Manual forinterior lamp operating instructions.Daytime Running LampsThe Daytime Running Lamps will comeon when the ignition is on, the headlampswitch is OFF, and the transaxle is not inPark (P).Twilight SentinelThis feature automatically switches theheadlamps on and off by sensing howdark it is outside. You should not have tomanually turn the headlamps on or off.

The Twilight Sentinel control lever islocated to the left of the steering column. To operate it, slide the leverfrom OFF to MAX to adjust the headlamps ON time from a few secondsto three minutes, after the ignition hasbeen turned OFF.Perimeter LightingNotice: Driver #1 and Driver #2 key fob settings are unique. Refer to DICProgramming.

Rainsense™ Wipers (if equipped)The Rainsense system monitors theamount of moisture on the windshieldand automatically operates the wipersas needed, depending on driving condi-tions and the sensitivity setting. Themoisture sensor is mounted on the inte-rior side of the windshield behind therearview mirror.The Rainsense wipers operate in adelay mode as well as a continuous lowor high speed as needed. If the systemis left on for long periods of time, occa-sional wipes may occur without anymoisture on the windshield to indicatethe system is active.To activate the Rainsense wipers: Turn the wiper band to one of the fivesensitivity levels within the delay area.The position closest to OFF is the low-est sensitivity level. Each higher sensi-tivity level increases the frequency ofwipes. The system can be overridden atany time by manually turning the wiperband to LO or HI speed.

Cruise ControlSet Cruise ControlThe Cruise Control buttons are locatedon the steering wheel. Press theON/OFF button to turn Cruise Controlon. Accelerate to the speed you want to set.Press the SET/COAST button. TheCruise Control light on the instrumentcluster will illuminate. Remove your footfrom the accelerator pedal.

Resume Set SpeedApplying the brakes will turn the CruiseControl off.Press the RESUME/ACCEL button. The vehicle’s preset speed will resume.OFFPress ON/OFF or step on the brakepedal.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Notice: Turn the Rainsense wipers off to avoid wiper damagewhen going through an automaticcar wash.

Headlamps — High BeamHigh/Low Beam ChangerPull the turn signal lever toward you untilit clicks to change from low beam tohigh beam.Flash-To-PassPull and hold the turn signal lever towardyou briefly to flash the headlamps.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Trunk Release Valet Key (if equipped)The remote TRUNK RELEASE button islocated on the driver’s door.Remote Trunk ReleaseVehicle must be in Park (P) or Neutral(N) and the trunk release lockoutunlocked.

Press the TRUNK RELEASE button toopen the trunk lid.Remote Trunk Release LockoutThis feature allows you to secure itemsin the trunk by disabling the TRUNKRELEASE button.Insert the ignition key into the TRUNKRELEASE button. Turn the key one-quarter of a turn to the right. Removethe key.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

The Valet Key is used for the ignitionand side doors only. It does not openthe trunk or glove box. Use this keywhen valet parking your vehicle. Use theignition key to open all doors, the trunk,and glove box. Do not use a Valet Keyto duplicate an ignition key.See Sections 2 and 5 of your Owner Manual.

Convenience FeaturesTraction Control System (if equipped)The Traction Control System automati-cally comes on whenever you start thevehicle. You may wish to turn the systemoff if your vehicle gets stuck in sand,mud, ice or snow.

Press the TRACTION OFF button to turnthe system off.Tilt WheelThe tilt wheel lever is located on the leftside of the steering column. To operate:Hold the steering wheel and pull thelever toward you. Adjust the steeringwheel to a comfortable position; thenrelease the lever.

Passenger Compartment Air Filter (if equipped)This feature filters outside and recircu-lated air, removing pollen and dust parti-cles. The filter has an access panellocated beneath the instrument panel,near the accelerator pedal. This filtershould be replaced during routinescheduled maintenance.See Sections 3 and 4 of your Owner Manual.

OnStar® brings an added dimension ofsafety, security, peace of mind, and per-sonal convenience to your LeSabre driv-ing experience.

With OnStar, you’ll have peace of mindknowing your driving experience is com-pletely enhanced with such features as:• Emergency services dispatch• Automatic notification of air bag

deployment• Roadside assistance with location• Stolen vehicle tracking with automatic

theft notification• Routing and location assistance• Remote diagnostics• Remote door unlock• Convenience services — location of

hotels, restaurants and other pointsof interest. The OnStar database has250 categories and more than 4 mil-lion listings.

Call Answer or END ButtonPress the white phone button at the endof a call. You’ll hear the words “OnStarRequest Ended.” Also, press this buttonto answer a call from the OnStar Center,or to cancel a call if one of the other but-tons is accidentally pressed.

OnStar Services ButtonPress the button to connect to anOnStar Advisor. You’ll hear a chime, followed by the words “Connecting toOnStar.” The Advisor will be able to helpyou with any subscriber services.Emergency ButtonIn an emergency, press to connect toan OnStar Advisor. The Advisor will con-tact the nearest emergency servicesprovider who can dispatch ambulance,police, fire or other emergency services.Telltale LightA solid green light indicates that theOnStar system is on. If the light blinks,an incoming or outgoing call is inprogress.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Head-Up Display (HUD)(if equipped)

EyeCue® Head-Up Windshield Display The HUD displays the following as areflection in the windshield:• Speedometer Reading• Turn Signal Indicators• High-Beam Indicator• Check Gauges MessageThe HUD controls are located on theinstrument panel to the left of the steering wheel column.To operate:Start the engine; slide the dimmer leverall the way up. Slide the dimmer controlupward or downward to increase ordecrease the image brightness.

Press the image height adjuster control’sup or down arrow to raise or lower theHUD image on the windshield to suityour personal preference.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Universal Transmitter (if equipped)

Programmable Universal Transmitter You can program up to three transmit-ters. The vehicle’s engine should beturned off during programming.

To erase any previous settingsPress and hold the two outside buttonssimultaneously until the indicator lightflashes rapidly. Release the buttons.

Hold your hand-held transmitter againstthe bottom surface of the UniversalTransmitter (UT) so you can see theindicator light.Choose one of the three buttons to program. Press and hold the transmitterbutton and the UT button until the indicator light flashes rapidly (this couldtake up to 90 seconds). Release bothbuttons.Operate Universal TransmitterPress and hold the appropriate button.The light will illuminate while the signalis being transmitted.PASS-Key® IIIThe PASS-Key® III is a passive theft-deterrent system that provides yourvehicle with a higher level of security byoffering 3 trillion electronic securitycodes.A single key opens all locks and oper-ates the ignition. A transponder is locat-ed in the key. With the key in the igni-tion, the transponder is activated andemits an encoded signal. This signalallows the engine to start.

Note: Make sure people and objectsare clear of the garage door you areprogramming.

New KeyIf a new ignition key is required, itshould be purchased at a Buick dealer-ship. The key is matched to your vehi-cle’s module. The module will then learnthe new transponder key code.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Driver Memory Seat and Mirrors(if equipped)

With the vehicle in Park (P), adjust the driver’s seat, including the lumbarposition (if equipped) and both outsidemirrors to a comfortable position. This feature also recalls the radio andclimate control settings. However, itdoes not include the power headrestraint settings.

• Press and hold the appropriateDriver/MEMORY button (located onthe driver’s door panel), to corre-spond with the DIC Driver number,until you hear two beeps.

• Follow the previous step with theother key fob/transmitter to set up fora second driver, and select the otherDriver/MEMORY button.

• Press and release the EXIT button.With the transaxle in Park (P), theseat will move all the way back or toyour personalized exit position.

To recall the memory seat and mirrorsusing the key fob/transmitter, programthe DIC Seat Recall feature to ON.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Driver Information Center (DIC)(if equipped)

The DIC displays information about howyour vehicle is functioning and showswarnings and messages if a systemproblem is detected.StabiliTrak® MessageWhen the “STABILITY SYS ACTIVE”message appears, a computer-controlled system is automatically activated. Some brake pedal noise orvibration is normal. (StabiliTrak is anoptional feature.)DIC Button Descriptions

• Press the ODO/TRIP button to dis-play the vehicle’s total mileage, andTrip 1 or Trip 2 miles. Press theODO/TRIP button for the appropriatetrip number; then press the RESETbutton to reset the trip odometer.

• Press the FUEL INFO button to dis-play fuel economy, fuel average, fuelinstantaneous, fuel range and fuelused. Press the ODO/TRIP button forthe appropriate trip number; thenpress the RESET button while theaverage fuel economy is displayed inthe DIC to learn what the averagefuel economy is from a new startingpoint.

To program and recall your personalchoice featuresTurn the ignition on and place vehicle inPark (P).1. To inform the DIC which driver you

are, press the appropriate memoryseat control button, or press theunlock symbol on your key fob/transmitter.

Follow the display information for eachfeature. Press RESET to save the selec-tion and advance to the next feature.When finished programming, “OptionsFeature Selection Done” will appear onthe DIC display.To exit without programming eachpersonal choice featurePress another DIC button or turn theignition to off. • Press the GAGE INFO button to dis-play oil pressure, coolant tempera-ture, battery state, oil life index andtire pressure information.

• Press the RESET button, along withother buttons, to reset system functions.

After an oil change• Press and hold the RESET button

while the oil life index is displayed in the DIC. After 5 seconds, the oil life will change to 100%.

• Press the ENG/MET button to changethe display to either English or metricunits.

Delayed LockingTo delay the locking of the doors by five seconds after the power door lockswitch is pressed:

• DELAYED LOCKING (OFF/ON)Press ENG/MET to select OFF or ON.If you select OFF for DELAYEDLOCKING, there will be no delayedlocking feature.If you select ON for DELAYED LOCKING, the doors will lock fiveseconds after pressing the door lockswitch.Press RESET to record your choice.

Security FeedbackTo sound the horn and/or flash the exte-rior lamps when you press LOCK orUNLOCK on the key fob/transmitter:• KEYLESS FEEDBACK (OFF/ON)

Press ENG/MET to make your selection.If you select OFF for KEYLESSFEEDBACK, there will be no feedback. If you select ON for KEYLESS FEEDBACK, you will also need toselect LIGHTS or LIGHTS + HORN.Press RESET to record your choice.

• LIGHTS FEEDBACK (OFF/ON)Press ENG/MET to select LIGHTS orL + HORN.If you select ON, the lights will flashtwice.If you select L + HORN, the lights willflash and the horn will chirp once.Press RESET to record your choice.

• HORN FEEDBACK (OFF/ON) PressENG/MET to make your selection.If you select OFF for HORN FEED-BACK, there will be no feedback.If you select ON for HORN FEED-BACK, the horn will chirp once.Press RESET to record your choice.

Perimeter LightingTo turn the headlamps, parking lampsand backup lamps on when you press

on the key fob/transmitter:1. PERIMETER LIGHTS (OFF/ON)

Press ENG/MET to select OFF orON.If you select OFF for PERIMETERLIGHTS, there will be no perimeterlighting.If you select ON for PERIMETERLIGHTS, the lights will illuminate.Press RESET to record your choice.

Memory Seats RecallTo recall the position of your seat andmirrors when you press unlock on thekey fob/transmitter:1. SEAT RECALL (OFF/ON) Press

ENG/MET to select OFF or ON.If you select OFF for SEAT RECALL,there will be no seat recall feature.If you select ON for SEAT RECALL,the seat and mirrors will move to theirpreset memory positions when thevehicle is unlocked using the keyfob/transmitter.Press RESET to record your choice.

2. RECALL POSITION MEMORY(EXIT) Press ENG/MET to selectMEMORY or EXIT.If you select MEMORY for RECALLPOSITION, the seat and mirrors willmove to their preset memory positions.

Note: If you desire perimeter lighting,you must select LIGHTS for UNLOCKFEEDBACK.

If you select EXIT for RECALL POSI-TION, the seat and mirrors will moveto their preset exit positions.Press RESET to record your choice.

Window LockoutTo select the number of passenger win-dows you want to prevent from beingopened:1. WINDOW LOCK (R+ PASS/REAR)

Press ENG/MET to select R+ PASSor REAR.If you select R+ PASS for WINDOWLOCK, all three passenger windowswill lock out.If you select REAR, the two rear win-dows will lock out.Press RESET to record your choice.
