About the UN-REDD Programme

• Partnership of FAO, UNDP and UNEP

• Providing Quick start readiness support to 9 countries

• Major opportunities under phase 2

• Governed by a Policy Board

• In response to requests, welcomed 5 new countries in October

• Global activities designed to support national efforts include MRV, multiple benefits, stakeholder engagement

In UN-REDD significant technical expertise on GHGs inventories are existing also in UNDP and UNEP

UNDP’s and UNEP’s national communication support progamme for non Annex I Parties’ has already

targeted many countries around the world

Future activties

• There is existing technical expertise in UN-REDD

• But we need to partner and coordinate with other players

• With additional financial support the UN-REDD Programme could extend its activities on GHG Inventories to between 15-20 (or more..) countries
