the art of digital GICLEE PRINT PROCESS STEP ONE: IMAGE CAPTURE FILM SCANS are done on the hign resolution Imacon "virtual drum" scanner from your transparency or negative at resolutions up to 5769 dpi. High resolution scan with proof $100. Proof color balanced to the transparancy. High resolution scan with proof 120. Proof color balanced to the original art. FLAT ART SCANS (when appropriate) are done on an 800 dpi tabloid+ sized professional flatbed scanner with focusable scanning area and single direction cold cathode light source. See DIRECT DIGITAL CAPTURE below for larger images. Up to 12 x 18 $ 60. with proof 2-piece scan (stitched) 75. with proof DIRECT DIGITAL CAPTURE is used for flat art that is too large for the flatbead or that requires two-source lighting, and is done with a 54 MPx3 high resolution "Better Light" scan back on a Sinar 4x5 copy camera, utilizing daylight balanced UV filtered CMD lighting (polarized when needed). Discounts are available for captures of 10 or more in same session. Up to 36 x 48 — 1st setup $120. with proof Additionals with same setup  80. with proof Over 36 x 48 : 1st setup $130. with proof Additionals with same setup  90. with proof STEP TWO: PROOFING AND APPROVAL Our capture and printing process is controlled with state-of-the-art digital color management. We make proofs from the captures and make adjustments to match your original. We provide you with a small final proof which we believe to be "really close"*** to matching the original, given the limitations of the process. This is included in the price of the capture. If you want us to take it a step further and get the reproduction even closer, we will do additional color tweeks and produce another proof. We call this a "round" of proofing. Each additional round of color adjustment, with proof $25. ea. round Once you are happy with the color of the proof described above, a larger or full size "Artist's Proof" is made to insure that everything looks the way you want it at a larger size. At this point, you will decide on and specify border sizes.** Before the proofing process starts, you choose the paper for your proofs. If needed, we can do an initial round of proofs on several papers for you to compare before choosing.** Additional adjustments to your art: we can remove signatures, fix flaws, add colored borders, crop, or change specific colors or elements of the image. This is charged at the rate of $100. per hour, with a minimum charge of $15. STEP THREE: FINAL PRINTS You decide on the sizes you want, image area plus borders, and we will make final prints. The square footage is calculated as the image area plus the borders (the size of the piece of paper). The printing is priced per square foot based on the size of the whole print order. Different images and sizes can be mixed or all of one image. Orders with large quantities (over 30 square feet) of the same image may qualify for further discount. Final Prints on Art Paper or Canvas are priced between $13. and 28. per square foot depending on order size.** All print files can be delivered for archiving or other uses. Additional charges at $60. per hour may apply for sizing and re-purposing of files. FILM SCANS are done on the hign resolution Imacon "virtual drum" scanner from your transparency or negative at resolutions up to 5769 dpi.
