Welcome Back
Welcome back to everyone
for Term 4. A very special
welcome to our new students
and families who have started
this term including the new
reception students, those new
to the mainstream classes and
those new to our Intensive
English Language Program.
This term we see the build-up
to the performance beginning
to take shape. Thank you to
all the classes who have
started practising already and
thank you to Val and her
team for the work that has
occurred already.
Monday Workshop
On Monday, staff started the
term with some stimulating
guest speakers. The day was
about reflecting on our prac-
tices of Social and Emotional
learning. Brian Bamford from
Victoria spoke to us about
the philosophy behind You
Can Do It and the importance
of working with children’s
thinking and developing a
positive mind set in children.
Lana Dubrowski worked with
us on the refresher course of
the Child Protection
Curriculum. Debbie Laycock
worked with us on reviewing
Restorative Justice and
practices in our school while
working with behaviour.
From the feedback from each
session, the staff enjoyed the
speakers and their informative
approach and have come
away with a deeper under-

standing of the theory in all
areas. We will continue to
follow up these areas and

the information sharing on
our journey.
Fun Run
Friday 25th October, in Week
2 of this term, is our annual
Fun Run. We encourage
children and families to sup-
port the event by collecting
sponsors to raise money for
our school. This is our major
fund raiser for the year.
Please help us make this a
successful event. Information about the run itself will be
included in this newsletter.
Demolition
The demolition was
completed on time for the
children to return to school
safely. The next part of the project is to level out the
ground and put topsoil on the
area ready for grass to be laid.
We will keep you informed of
the progress, although it is
quite visible from the lower
fence.

ICAS Special Mentions
We would like to congratulate Domenico in Room 1 for
receiving a Distinction in the University of New South Wales
International Competitions and Assessments for Schools Maths
and English tests and Brigid in Room11 and Sofya, room 19, for
a Credit in the Maths test. Congratulations and well done.
On Monday 23rd of September I was so lucky to
be able to go and see One
Direction at the Adelaide
Entertainment Centre.
My cousin and I got dropped
off at 7PM. We walked in and
what do I see, One Direction
fans. I was so excited and so
happy that I was there. I was
allowed to buy something
from the store and got a One
Direction necklace and a post-
er.
We had to go and find where
our seats were. We were
seated in section 32 row P
and seats 615 and 616. We sat
down and all I could hear was
One Direction fans screaming.
The support act was Five
Seconds Of Summer.
Finally, One Direction came
on and the first song they sang
was One Thing. After three
songs a woman who works
for the Entertainment Centre
came up to my cousin and I
and told us there were seats
at the front & would we like
to come with her. We got so
excited as these seats were so
close to the stage. The show
got more exciting because
One Direction came on a
smaller stage right where I
was sitting. Harry was so
close to me and he blew me a
kiss.
Their live music sounds better
than their recorded
music and their English
accents bring out the
songs more.
They ended up singing
lots of brilliant songs and
got the crowd going.
After the last song there
were lots of balloons and
confetti thrown to the
crowd. The concert fin-
ished at 11pm and my mum
came and picked us up. I was
so happy. What a great first
concert experience it was for
me!
Thespina
A special thanks to my moth-
er Angela for editing my re-
port.
At the end of last term, room
11 visited the Fab Lab at TAFE
SA (The Arts Centre).
They were treated to
demonstrations of 3D Printing
on various machines at vari-
ous scales and Laser cutting.
Everyone got to take home a
sample of some sort.
Everyone was completely
amazed at what could be done
and excited to start their own
3D design projects.

FUN RUN - FRIDAY 25th OCTOBER, Week 2
The Fun Run is one of our School’s major fundraising events for 2013 and money
raised will help support our School’s sporting and educational programs.
A major difference in the Fun Run for this year from previous years is that we will not
be offering prizes or incentives for students who raise money. This has come after
suggestions from Parents and School Council who thought that we needed to be
teaching our students a message of wanting to do good things and help others for
the sake of it, rather than because they were going to get something out of it.
The Fun Run will be run over a course in the Parklands on Friday 25th of October
which is at the end of Week 2, Term 4. We hope to start the Run by 9:30 am.
JP children will run laps around the Glover Playground for approximately 30
minutes
MP/UP children will run laps around the creek area of the Parklands for approxi-
mately 45 minutes
Families and Friends are asked to sponsor the children for the number of laps com-
pleted or make a donation.
Children will be able to enjoy healthy snacks of fruit when they finish their run.
Children will need to wear sneakers, shorts, hats and bring a bottle of water.
Any help from Parents/Caregivers on the day would be most appreciated.
All money raised will need to be returned to school by Friday the 8th of November
2013. This is the End of Week 4, Term 4.
“It is Fun Run time!
Get into those
sneakers, get your
sponsors and get
running on Friday
25th October!”
