LCF Congratulates “Your Charitable Story” Award Winners
1st PlaceBright Eyes
Children love books. To a child, a book can be either a window to a whole new world or a mirror that reflects a bit of their inner world. When children receive books in the mail through the Mayor’s Book Club, they are excited about reading – they try to identify the letters, sound out the words, and describe the pictures with their own stories. These are all valuable steps – with the help of the adults in their lives – towards reading on their own. And when that happens, the sky is the limit.2nd Place
Longmont Emergency Unit
When you are navigating the rivers of your life and something pulls you astray, you can thank the dedication of the volunteers in your community to be there to help. Here, volunteers from Longmont Emergency Unit practice rescue skills in potentially lethal swiftwater during an exercise on the St. Vrain River. LEU embodies volunteerism, devotion and dedication. Our volunteers have been 'paying it forward' with both emergency and nonemergency community service around the clock since 1957.
3rd PlaceThe Tiny Tim Center
Children deserve the chance to reach their highest potential. The Tiny Tim Center seeks to give that opportunity to each and every child. Whether that means taking their first step after years of physical therapy, a non-verbal child saying their first I love you, or the child that gets an opportunity to shine. This picture represents every child that has been told they couldn’t achieve their dreams. We believe every child deserves to fly. We just give them the encouragement to find their wings.

We recently came across an old slogan for Longmont from 1938.
“Longmont, Colorado…The Friendly City”
True in 1938 and still true today. Longmont has always been a place where neighbors help neighbors, families help families, and friends help friends.
We’re grateful for the neighborly character in the community that has helped with issues of education, poverty, homelessness and food security.
At the Longmont Community Foundation, we’re committed to do more to improve the lives of people. As our vision statement says, “We envision a future where all people of the St. Vrain Valley lead independent, generous and creative lives.”
Our vision allows us and encourages us to remain neutral. We are here to assist our entire community in improving Longmont and the St. Vrain Valley.
