WE INTRODUCE

Rev Nikla and Jacky du Plessis GK Worcester

I undertook my studies from 1994-2000 and was ordained in 2001 as minister of the GK Glencoe/Ladysmith-combination in the north of Natal. I remained unmarried until I, to the great relief of these congregations, married Jacky on 1 May 2004. Our son, Nikla, was born on 27 August 2005 and after a long wait of 7 years we

were blessed with our daughter, Janique, on 26 November 2012. We as family love nature and the outdoors, so we spend time outside whenever we get the chance. Jacky is a Gr R teacher at Worcester Primêr and enjoys the little ones enormously. Our ministry in Natal will always stay with us, since it meant that I ministered two days a week at GK Glencoe and two days at GK Ladysmith, followed by an eight o’ clock service at the one and a 10 o’ clock service at the other on Sundays. The warmth of the congregations made up for the cold eight o’ clock services. The wonderful scenery, including the mountains, made the travelling between congregations a great deal more pleasant. We think back with precious memories at our formative years in these congregations. We accepted the calling, led by the Holy Spirit, to GK

Postmasburg in July 2007 in the hot, but beautiful Northern Cape. Our ministry in Postmasburg came with its own long distances and bad roads, but the members and surroundings made up for it. We saw the quiet town, filled with Dopper history, grow and explode with the new mine that opened just outside Postmasburg that also meant growth for our congregation. The annual fete was and remains a high point of cooperation within the congregation toward the building up and out of God’s Kingdom. It was also a true privilege to minister to the GK Groenwater, a Tswana Reformed congregation outside of Postmasburg. Before my departure to GK Worcester, the congregation was in the process of building a church building for GK Groenwater and with the aid and perseverance of members the building

was completed after I left. We accepted a calling to GK Worcester in 2014, led by the Holy Spirit, an area encircled by mountains on all sides that immediately makes you think of Psalm 125. Our ministry in Worcester is again unique in that we minister to sight-impaired members and our wider ministry also includes the deaf and multiply disabled children and adults. Worcester congregation and community are filled with love and sincerity for their fellow man and we are actively involved at these schools and institutions. We are grateful for the love and care from our members, since a large number of members are spread to all corners of the wind around Worcester. Please visit our Facebook page – Gereformeerde Kerk Worcester. We as family thank the Lord for more than 17 years of ministry, for all His grace, faithfulness, care and love that we experience daily as well as the congregations and members that shared in our growth, with which we could live through prosperity and adversity. We pray that God will bless our future the same way He did our past.

extol him, all you peoples.

For great is his love towards us,

and the faithfulness of the Lord
