Principle functions::The cup belt (1) transports the tubers from the collecting hopper area (2). The level of material in the collecting hopper area can be adjusted as illustrated by means of the slide-separator (3).The cup-belt then transports the tubers to the point of delivery.

Please note: The cup belt runs through the collecting hopper

area. If the level in the collecting hopper are is too high, this will hinder the uniform filling of the planting cups.

8 Operating principle of the planting units

• Drive roller above (1)– Large diameter to ensure safe drive– Even at high planting speeds, no

throwing of the potatoes in the deflection area can occur.

– Advantage for large-scale, long-duration sorting

• Deflection at the bottom– Small diameter for even planting

distance– The planting cup releases the potatoes

very quickly

Forerunner version for comparison 1

8Collecting hopper area floor

• Collecting hopper area floor with flap– Easy emptying of residues from the collecting hopper area via large flaps– Fastener can be opened without tools– Different variants; see the following slides

8Collecting hopper area floor

• Collecting hopper area floor with mechanical vibration (optional)

– Improves the potato flow in the collecting hopper area

– Counteracts bridging– Only conditionally suitable for large or

cut tubers

• Collecting hopper area floor with mechanical vibration (optional)

– Particularly intensive vibration against bridging

– Vibration is independent of the driving speed

– Recommended for large or cut potatoes

8Collecting hopper area floor

• Collecting hopper area floor with grates (optional)

– Soil and sprouts do not get into the planting cups

– The planting cups stay cleaner– Filling is improved– Note:

Do not use in combination with powder chromate devices

– Grates with mechanical vibration (optional)• For arguments, see previous slide

– Grates with electrical vibration (optional)• For arguments, see previous slide

8Collecting hopper area floor

• Collecting hopper area floor for pregerminated potatoes (optional)– Enables a low filling height in the collecting hopper area– Thus:

• less "grubbing" of the planting cups in the potatoes• less bud break in the area of the collecting hopper

8Elevator belts / planting cups

• Guide grooves on the back of the belts for optimal straight running

• The optimal cup size is dependent on many factors. Thus the following indications will apply as recommendations:

– Red planting cup:• for normally sized to normally long tubers (30-50mm)• with blue insert, reduction for tubers below 30 mm

– Green planting cup:• for particularly large and/or long tubers (over 50 mm)• with black insert, reduction for tubers below 45 mm• with blue insert, reduction for tubers below 30mm

– Blue planting cup• for oversizes (only use after consultation with the factory)

8Vibration device for elevator belt

• Mechanical shaker– Reduces the dual allocation of the planting cups– Two geared guide grooves on the back of the cup belt run via ball-bearing rollers– Intensive oscillation effect directly behind the planting cup– Simple setting of the shaking intensity via control lever

8Vibration device for elevator belt

• Belt shaker, electrical (optional)– Particularly intensive vibration, independent of the driving speed– Drive via electric motor– Extremely large eccentric roller produces via high speed an optimal effect– Infinite speed adjustment at the control terminal (optional)

• Best possible adaptation to the requirements of the tuber
