• Surfaces formed in air– Pristine surface - requires no polishing
• Tight thickness tolerance– Thickness depends on drawing speed
• Uniformity in large sizes
Fusion Overflow Forming
6Display Technologies Corning Incorporated
• Invented by Corning in 1960’s.
• Our proprietary fusiontechnology is scalable toproduce large-Gen substrates
• Fusion draw width is increasedto allow large substrates to beformed
• No inherent limit in fusionforming process
Fusion Overflow Forming
Gen8
7Display Technologies Corning Incorporated
• First developed by Pilkington in Late 1959• Molten glass formed on a tin bath.• Float glass requires polishing to achieve thin thickness & uniformity.

Float Process• Over 90% of the world’s sheet glass is produced using this process.• The glass and the tin do not mix because the glass is highly viscous and
the tin is very fluid. This allows for the surface between the two materialsto be extremely flat.
• The typical thickness of glass is 2mm to 19mm.
