INSULATED GLASS UNITSTWO PANELS OF GLASS ARE BETTER THAN ONE
Insulated Glass Units
When it comes to superior climate control, comfort, noise reduction
and strength, two panels of glass are better than one. National Glass
offers the option to custom build Insulated Glass Units (IGUs). Many
IGU ‘make ups’ are now possible with our extensive range of standard
and high-performance glass.
Insulated Glass Units are made from two panels of glass bonded
together by a spacer and separated by a hermetically sealed air or
argon gas filled space. The thickness of IGU gaps varies between
8mm to 16mm depending on the application.
Super SpacerThe glass panels in IGUs manufactured and supplied by National
Glass are separated by spacers made of thermoplastic designed to
meet the toughest residential and commercial glazing demands.
Features & Benefits:
› Dual seal system with PIB primary, polysulphide or silicone
secondary seals;
› Substantially reduced perimeter condensation;
› Lower thermal conductivity than aluminium spacer units;
› Excellent UV resistance;
› Smooth matte surface appearance finish;
› Spacer range 8/10/12/16mm (other widths available on
application).

Two Panels Of Glass Are Better Than One
NoiseReducing noise is now better achieved with IGUs by
adding a panel of laminated acoustic glass such as
QS41. QS41 target sounds in the 1000 – 3000 Hz range
which is the “most sensitive range of human hearing”
that allows the most irritating of sounds to penetrate
windows and doors.
Energy & ClimateFor improved energy efficiency with greater solar and thermal
control, add Sunergy® or Low-E Clear glass to insulated
glass unit combinations. Alternatively, a solar control PVB
laminated glass can be added to the composition to improve
performance further.
Structural & StrengthFurnaced Laminated Glass or laminated glass with Sentry
Glas® Plus interlayer can be included in insulated glass units
to meet architectural demands for bigger glass panels while
meeting security, structural and wind load requirements.
Decorative & DesignWith insulated glass units, swapping or adding different types
of glass expands the possibilities for decorative applications.
Options include ImageTek™ printed glass, Vanceva®, Lacobel® T,
Translucent Laminated and Acid Etched.
