October Activity (1)October Activity (1)

Management

– Presented ISOC overview to LAT IFC meeting

– Provided ISOC plans presentation for DOE mini-review

– Provided ISOC overview for LAT All Hands meeting

– SLAC “Safety comes first” standdown

• Core ISOC staff were able to resume LAT project work relatively rapidly

Work on CDR RFAs

– RFA#6: “Launch Critical Support Plan”

• More details learnt about GSFC IONet and CNE networks

– RFA#7: “Red/Yellow Limits”

• Temperatures: red limits at Acceptance Temp, yellow limits 5C inside AT. Will confirm with LAT Systems Eng that LAT thermal model supports these limits.

• Other limits will be worked with LAT Systems Eng.

October Activity (2)October Activity (2)

ISOC Requirements– Participating in moves of FSW requirements to ground

elements– Expanding mission planning requirements to capture

more details of products and interfaces– Addressing I&T concern about completeness of planned

ISOC capabilities. Have reviewed ISOC requirements with I&T online software developers. Will review ISOC requirements with I&T SVAC.

ISOC Architecture– Work continues on ISOC IT security plan and secure

network configuration– Met with SCS management to understand SLAC network

security and available support for 24/7 ISOC operation

October Activity (3)October Activity (3)

Flight Software coordination– ISOC has worked with FSW team to define contents of

FSW User Guide– ISOC-FSW TIMs continue: reviewed housekeeping

telemetry structure and usage – Addressed ITAR concerns to ensure FSW T&C handbook

is compatible with SAI requirements and PDB Mission Planning

– Had presentations on STK and SatTrack– STK cost is $100k-$200k (1 or 2 fixed base or floating

licenses)– SatTrack cost is $10k per computer. Used at Berkeley

SSL for RHESSI, FAST, WIND and to be used for THEMIS– Use: event prediction, e.g. SAA transits, target visibility,

plus graphic display

ISOC StaffingISOC Staffing

ISOC– Bryson Lee started as software developer on Nov 1. Will

also work– Interviewed 3 candidates for Test Developer position,

without success. B. Lee will support test development in the near term.

FSW– Reworking FSW staffing plans with inputs from Gunther

Haller– Planning for future redeployment of programmer support to

other ISOC needs after FQT SAS

– Search for SAS software infrastructure person started

ISOC Operations FacilityISOC Operations Facility

Long-term ISOC facility– 2 meetings with Roger Blandford (KIPAC Director) on ISOC

use of Kavli building at SLAC.– SLAC Kavli building completion is expected in late 2005– Discussions have focused on “Light Lab” space, approx.

1600 sq. ft. for ISOC operations and some office area, plus offices for other ISOC staff and visiting scientists. Space should be available at building completion.

– ISOC requirement until Launch + 5 years is used for discussions

– Many issues still to be worked: floorplan and build out cost and schedule for lab space

– No firm agreement in place yet until more details are known– Short term planning has dependencies on long-term plans

Plans for NovemberPlans for November

Start more detailed planning of ISOC participation in LAT I&T activities at SLAC and NRL.– Ensure minimal disturbance of I&T activities, but use the

opportunity to exercise ISOC– Mainly telemetry capture and processing– Investigate some limited command/control opportunities– Need FSW on LAT– Next stage: work with GOWG on details of ISOC activities

during I&T at SAI Continued definition and development of ISOC software

elements Continue to work on Kavli building usage for ISOC Yet more work on ISOC staffing plans and M&S requirements
